DCTF recruiting comment

The guy who does the recruiting blog for Dave Campbell's thinks A&M clearly had the best class, but it's close for second place between Texas, Baylor and our Frogs: "And then there’s TCU, which doesn’t have a ton of star power (Arlington Martin RB Kyle Hicks aside) and won’t get a lot of love from the major recruiting services, but has a lot of players the DCTF staff is very high on. Guys like East Bernard’s Ty Slanina, Frisco Centennial’s Ranthony Texada and Arlington’s Sammy Douglas may not move the needle nationally, but we’ve seen what they can do first-hand, and it’s potentially very special."

Really tickled we kept Trevorris on board. Wasn't he the athlete that was offered at Oregon and a Duck blogger predicted he would immediately switch? Suck on that duck blogger guy.

Seemed like TCU got a lot of good players locked up early.

Not saying these recruiting services like to focus on the uncommitted guys...but perhaps if some of the top Frog commits had dragged out the process or shown more of an inclination to window shop, they wouldn't be such "sleepers".

The reason SEC teams get so much hype is the same reason Notre Dame gets overrated. SEC has the most fans, the largest reach, makes whomever associated with the conference rich, so the media overrates all the talent to satisfy the masses, get the ratings, and make more money by the sponsors, etc.

I think the recruiting sites, the media groups under rate the state of Texas athletes unless they go to a team whom they focus on, the big school fans. You saw A&M go to the SEC and match up against the SEC very well, even if you take Manziel out of the equation.

Big 12 has dropped in reach and large fan base schools. ESPN focuses on UT and OU pretty much only from the Big 12 with OSU and maybe Tech here and there. I saw a guy tweet that TCU had 14 four star kids, and I believe that more tthan the biased media groups that lean to the where the $ is.

Don't get me wrong SEC has some incredible recruiting classes but if I had to re-rank the top 10 or top 15 recruiting classes you would find a considerable more Big 12 teams in there. I would rank A&M in the top 3 with UF and Alabama as they had the best from Texas. The state of Texas talent is like no other and Big 12 carries most of that talent.

If you remember how slow we started with recruiting this year and all the chaos we went through I think we did pretty dang good.

ESPN once again doesn't have the frogs rated in the top 40 (yep, that isn't a typo) recruiting classes. They never rank us highly, nor do the other services. CGP just coaches up his kids really well. Plus those services sell to alumni...who has more alumni than little old TCU? Most everyone.

This isn't objective and even if it is, CGP does better coaching the talent he has than almost anyone. Top 5 coaches in the game in "coaching."

This class has plenty of everything but still a little worried about Henderson. DCTF does good work, mostly, and is usually fair in its assessment.

Not to mention Baltimore. He looks great.

I hope we let him return punts.

Baltimore might be a good kid to have around for more than just his playing ability. Coaches were saying tonight how Baltimore seemed to know or be friends with every athlete in the metroplex. Said he was a pretty intelligent and well liked kid.
