Greg Tepper: TCU fought and fought vs. Oklahoma, but just didn't have enough in the tank. In the magazine, we predicted a possible late-season fade for the Frogs, but if beating Texas and losing a one-possession game to Oklahoma count as "a fade," you have too high of standards.

I'll still take second. I don't like the "not enough gas in the tank" comment but that's still high praise to finish 2nd in that magazine. I remember when DCTF didn't even consider us a real team...

Perspective is really changing with a lot of sports writers in the past few weeks. Everyone was convinced we'd get killed during our 5 game gauntlet to end the season but we showed up and we're starting to get respect for that. Our recruiting is improving by the day. We are competitive and are making a great impact on this conference even in our first season with all of the injuries and misfortunes we have faced. A lot of folks consider us an odds on favorite to win the conference next year that's a long way from our perception only a few years ago.

Yeah, A&M only played 4 decent schools and only six bowl eligible schools. They lost to two of the three best teams they faced. They played two FCS schools, the other two OOC games were SMU and LaTech. Of their eight conference games, only four of the games had opponents that ended up with a winning record (and Miss St only played 5 bowl eligible teams and lost to the 4 SEC ones, beating only MTSU, which is not going to a bowl).

I hope OU rolls A&M like a steamroller and OU stops Johnny Football cold.

Are we sure it would have gone into overtime? When Boykin scored the touchdown with a minute or so to go, my first thought was to go for two and end it one way or the other.

Disagree...not impressed. I think it would be a close game. The SEC is not used to Leach-type offenses...we are. That makes a huge difference.

Nah, but a big game like that, we'd make it look respectable. We'd lose by around 10, maybe more, but it wouldn't be as bad as some people would think.

I agree. I'd like to think our D would keep it somewhat competitve. But I don't think there's a chance we put up even decent offensive numbers against them.


What I am driving at is I believe we'd keep Aggy's offense more at bay than Bama did, just based off of what our defensive scheme is designed to stop, but I still think they'd beat us fairly soundly this year.

#2 is a pretty good finish considering the amount of things we have had to go through this year.

SEC may be overrated and many of the poor offenses I think we could hang with due to our awesome defense.

However A&M is ranked #3 in total offense and scoring offense for a reason. I think we could score more on them than some defenses but our biggest struggle is protecting the QB and A&M has 1 less sack than the Kansas State that used and abused our offensive line.

Now A&M next year? Hell yes, I would love to face their brand new inexperienced offensive line with Hunter, Lathan, Fields and Maponga

Did I miss something? Our best DTs were Hunter and Pierson, and Lewis and Johnson aren't shabby. Kinda early to push Lathan....I've really been impressed with Pierson, who seemed to get better game by game.

True Lathan maybe not but I like the rest. I think Lathan will be better than all of them but it will take time. Pierson has been impressive, bad omission on my part
