Dana Holgorsen to TCU?

Rumor that Holgo might be headed to TCU soon. Don’t know in what capacity, but I would guess offensive analyst. Maybe (strong maybe) co-OC. He was rumored to be going to Nebraska to do that. I’d be all for it if it helps our redzone efficiency.

It should be pretty interesting to see what two offensive spread “mad scientists“ like Holgorsen & Briles can come up with when they put their heads together.
Holgo can just hang out in the upstairs booth eating fried food and smoking, then when TCU gets in the red-zone he can radio down to Johnny Tape-fingers and say, "let's score a touchdown here". Then JTF can select a play that works, and boom! Holgo is worth his weight in gold.

I'm pretty sure that's all there is to it.

Holgo is a fabulous addition, provided we can work it out. Like Froggle says above, he's one of the finest offensive minds out there, and we need all the help we can get!
That offensive genius put up 266 yards and 13 points against our vaunted defense last year. His insight is definitely needed!

Not many coaches have gotten by on purely their persona as much as he has. I think those that do the hiring finally caught on to the fact that, hey, this guy might be cool and all, but he's not much of a coach.

Was I supposed to type something here?

Dana was a huge bust at UH. I’m not sure what he adds.
Holgerson is just not cut out for being a head coach. He drinks too much and he's not a good leader - the players can figure that stuff out quickly. I don't think he had the respect of his team.

He was horrible at handling the locker room. At Houston he let the talented kids get away with murder, probably because he was in the hot seat. When the "good kids" see the "bad kids" do whatever they want and suffer no consequences the team chemistry is shot - and you're not going to win many games.

His issues won't be as impactful in an offensive analyst (or even an OC role). I think he could flourish under a good head coach. The guy knows the X's and O's. I definitely think this turns up the heat on JTF a bit.

Maybe, like Sonny in 2017, he's taking a year off before his next HC or OC gig.

And absolutely this.
Based on what?

I mean, his teams have had a few decent offenses over the past 10-15 years, but there's no pattern that would suggest he's any kind of genius whatsoever. A lot of average and even downright bad years mixed in with those few decent years.

It's just weird how some guys get labelled and the label sticks almost no matter what the evidence.
