Daily Press: U.Va. enters baseball tourney relying on veteran bats, inexperienced starting pitchers

When Virginia gathered for a team meeting Monday to briefly rant about being passed over as an NCAA tournament regional host and having to instead travel to Texas for a regional, most players bit their tongue.
As a matter of fact, catcher/first baseman Robbie Coman said he remembered only one player speaking up when Coach Brian O'Connor gave the team a chance to vent. Shortstop Ernie Clement summed up the attitude U.Va. (42-14, 18-12 ACC) has no choice but to adopt moving forward as it prepares to open the Fort Worth regional Friday as the No. 2 seed in a game against No. 3 seed Dallas Baptist.
"(O'Connor) asked if we had any thoughts about it, and Ernie said, 'Let's go on the road and beat somebody'" Coman said. "That's kind of what everybody felt like."
