NORMAN – Bobby Shore mowed through the Texas lineup, retiring batter after batter in an encouraging start in his recovery from shoulder woes.
Then, in the third inning of the May 1 game, the Oklahoma right-hander felt something tug in his forearm.
And in the fourth, Shore knew something was wrong — again, further clouding his season and a Sooners season devoted to a return to the College World Series.
"I gave up a home run, but didn't feel anything, because I was mad about giving up the home run," said Shore, a senior pitcher from Oceanside, Calif. "And then the next pitch, it didn't feel right.
"And I threw a slider and it hurt, and I got extremely scared, obviously."
Shore has barely pitched since. And that may be a good thing. ...
