CW33: TCU Football Star Marshall Harris Impresses as an Artist, too

by Doug Magditch
Story Teller

TCU football alum Marshall Harris was recently named a 2012 TCU hall of fame inductee. He spent six years playing pro, his longest stint on the Cleveland Browns. Standing 6’7, he was a natural for the game. Considering his more than a decade as a football standout, you might be surprised to hear him say this:

“I’ve never really enjoyed the game. I did really well, because I figured while I’m out there I might as well do a good job,” said Harris.

He excelled just because he willed himself to. but he didn’t love football. Now he’s taking the time to focus on something he really does love: drawing.

“I’d rather do this than anything else,” said Harris. “It was something that I always found fascinating. That I could do something with this and create something out of nothing.” ...

Probably already stated on KFC at some point, but in case it hasn't, Marshall designed the flying T.
Wish that had been mentioned in the story though I guess the reporter didn't know and Marshall likely feels like he has moved waaaay beyond that but the logo is still very iconic and has been resurrected on T-shirts, etc.

Oh, I don't know. I think he still has a fond attachment to that logo.

WHAT A STORY Made me proud.

A funny story from the Star-Telegram that I remember was when Marshall was being recruited out of high school. He visited Okie State (may have been A&M then), and when he got back was asked how he liked it. His answer was "If all you want to do is watch grass grow, it's a great place".

Thats right and was never paid a thing for it

He is a great artist. Those photo realistic saddles and other drawings, using that technique, are amazing
