TCU quarterback Josh Hoover has become a symbol of commitment in collegiate football after rejecting a $1 million raise offer from Tennessee to continue with the Horned Frogs. Fans applauded his choice, praising his dedication to the team and faith-driven approach to the game.

Hoover is 11–8 as a starter with the Horned Frogs, including a 9-4 mark in 2024 when he threw for 3,949 yards. Hoover played high school football at Rockwall-Heath (TX), where he was a three-star recruit in the 2022 cycle.

Despite Tennessee’s persistent pursuit and significant NIL offer, Hoover decided to stay at TCU. His decision indicates a strong commitment to his current squad and confidence in the program’s future under head coach Sonny Dykes.

Say what? Growing trend?
Yea, I don’t really follow this stuff much, but calling this a growing trend diminishes what Josh did here. It’s partly loyalty but I’m guessing he sees himself as part of a system that has been very successful for him, which has real value now and future.

I think having to learn a new system that may not be as QB friendly is a big driver here. I think Hoover hopes a big year will lead to getting drafted and I hope so because a good year for him means a big year for TCU.
