Yeah I agree with him on (or he agrees with me?!) that this is most likely. My opinion is that we have different mitigation strategies in the pandemic phase versus the endemic phase. During the pandemic phase when there are all these immune naive people who are potentially susceptible to severe disease, aggressive vaccination strategies to protect against severe disease is appropriate. During the endemic phase when there is enough immunity that you don't see huge surges with morbidity and mortality, a more targeted vaccination (both in terms of the target for the vaccine and who gets it and when) strategy makes sense. I could even see the situation where there is enough T-cell immunity or cross immunity built up that a vaccine isn't even necessary, of we have some sort of a test to determine who to recommend to get it. A new variant would probably be the big driver for a new vaccine push in that scenario.![]()
