I've always loved the Cotton Bowl because if it's rich History and it being played in Dallas on New Years day. I was sad when it moved to Jerry World but believe it was a necessary action to gain favor with the evil empire- ESPN. I still love the old cotton bowl stadium and glad it still has a bowl game and that game is still played on new years day. This years cotton bowl match up brings up some interesting story lines.

Some interesting things noticed: Kevin Sumlin and OU have history. Sumlim coached at OU from 2003-2007 as TE, ST, WR, and CO-OC. Everyone one knows the history between OU and A&M. I still remember the 2003 game between the two schools when OU destroyed A&M- 77-0! Additionally, everyone one knows how A&M and Mizzou left allowing for TCU to being to join the Big 12!

This game reminds of a bad break up. Everyone knows breaks ups can be hard to do but it's even worse when you have to see that person. I believe both schools will be eager to prove something to the other school. A&M that it's cheating heart (that thankfully left for the SEC because it helped TCU) was right to leave and happy and successful in its new conference. While OU wants to show A&M whose it's daddy even though they are no longer conference mates. Will this game be filled with tension? I think so!

I think this game could be one of the better games of the season and is definitely one of the best bowl match ups. Will A&M and Johnny Manzel have a heisman hangover? Can the OU defense keep up with the fast past A&M offense? Now that KK is the HC at TTU will A&M offense still be as effective or dynamic?

This are my thoughts on this years match up and was hoping to hear others opinions on the topic.

No, it's just one of my favorite bowl games along with the Rose Bowl. I don't think the Rose Bowl will be very good this year. Besides the TCU BWW Bowl the cotton bowl is probably only one that sparks my interest. I was just curious if anyone thought this game was as interesting as me.

Never mind that the Cotton Bowl has never been ON ESPN/ABC.....

Cotton Bowl is my favorite outside of the Rose. Cotton and the Chick Fil a bowl are better than 60% of this years BCS games. I hate that the Cotton is played at Cowboys stadium now. I also wish it was B12 v a top at large team and there was a greater diversity of opponents.

In our BowlMania pool, I picked A&M with 13 confidence points. (Even though I'll be rooting Big XII all the way.)

Mrs. Turk rolled the dice and took OU with 20 confidence points. No one else in our pool picked OU.

Mrs. Turk is going to be insufferable if she wins this thing...

Yep. Unfortunately I don't think they have much of a chance. That aTm team is playing for a lot of different reasons and OU is disappointed they didn't make BCS. I could see this one being a blow-out.

Unfortunately, I agree. Sure would be nice to see OU pull it off though.

A&M hasn't had the best post season record in the past. OU post season play has been all over the place. I think A&M is going to be overly confident because they are now an SEC team. A&M losing KK I believe will hurt them and their offense will be stagnate. Johnny Manzel I believe will have a heisman hangover and more interested in enjoying his 15 mins than getting ready for OU. I predict OU beating up a&m all over the field and winning big.

I laff that the best Aggie team in forever did not draw UTx as their Cotton Bowl opponent.

Aggies wanted that match bad.

A UTx program that is clearly weaker than Sumlin's has scoreboard on a&m, and a chance to get better before playing a&m again-- not that serious UTx fans (except old farts) care about a&m any more than any other former SWC opponent. But UTx scoreboard burns in a&m hearts, the same Aggies that were happy to taunt us about the Couch Bowl while refusing to play a better TCU program to test their scoreboard superiority.

You and I both know that UT fans care about A&M. It's not like OU, but they still care.

We also both know they would be dying right now if they had to play A&M in the cotton bowl. I know a ton if UT fans and they are ecstatic they don't have to risk losing scoreboard.

I don't know if UT turned down the Cotton Bowl or not, but if they didn't, it's because they weren't good enough to get invited.

Yea, you hear alot of things but they sure as hell didn't want it. Bet you a 1000 bucks Dodds didn't want it either. One thing all these big programs have in common is they are all bullies. Not looking for you when you are good, ever.

OU seems be the one school that has been scheduled big names. Worked against FSU and didn't against BYU. There have been other programs that have had an anyplace anytime mind set. I agree that that UT is a bully think they avoided this match up because it knew it is a wobbling giant. Looking at the history of Aggies football, their fans will get confident and talk a lot of smack then the team will buy into the aggie BS and end up getting destroyed. It seems too much has gone right for the Aggies and it is only a matter of time before they find a way to mess it up and fall back to reality. At least this time, they will boost about a heisman in the year 2136 as if it was yesterday.
