Pro scouts know who he is, don't kid yourself. I think he stays because he hasn't done everything he came to TCU for. He will get his degree and play on a BCS team next year. Book it.

At the end of the day I'm not sure how much this plays into a players mind, but I'm guessing he also appreciates everything Patterson has done for him from the Baylor game to today.

Wasn't targeted near as much, pass break up % isn't as good. Good doesn't make 1st team when only 3 are picked. Not a game changer like Verrett

Didn't say he sucks but to put him above him is weird. The other 2 in that 1st team list are juggernaut. In the 4 games I watched, he was good in 2, bad in 1, great in 1.

Guess he should be 2nd team at least but if you look at the numbers and the terrible offenses he faced it doesn't make sense. Sorry for saying overrated. Meant that his numbers don't correlate to 1st team.

Correct, I didn't watch him all 12 games. He may be amazing. What I saw was a kid get burned a couple times bad, granted his safeties failed him (sound familiar?)
MSU was a heralded defense this year starting out 7-0 and looked dominant defensively except aganst the one decent team offensively in that stretch Tennessee (gave up 31 points). Then they actually played someone.
Bama: 38 points
A&M: 38 points
LSU: 37 points
Arkanas: 14 (4-8)
Ole Miss 41 points

So in retrospect people are crediting his performance primarily for the first 7 games when Verrett played well the whole year and matched up against better receivers. Just sayin

I do agree with CDS in that credit has to be given to Verrett for going up against the best WRs (except USC, TCU) and QBs in the nation week in and week out.

I doubt there's another cornerback in the nation that can boast his "shutdown" list. The award doesn't go to best NFL cornerback, or most potential, but the guy who made the biggest impact for his team. It's hard for me to argue against Verrett.

Checkered past and a crazy family. Most people didn't offer Manziel (still think he is a wacko). Check out his offer list, not impressive. He was a gamble that paid off

Aggy bro-in-law was emphasizing the extra work and study put in by the player between Spring and fall practices...big,big step-up in QB skills. Further step-up as the season progressed as well.

Maybe, seeing Manziel w/o that jump in his QB skills set (mainly curing a bad case of "happy feet") meant most coaches ranked M. behind other picks...at least at that stage. Guess you look in the cupboard to see if you are low enough to take a chance he might mature a whole bunch, vs. what skill set you already have...Aggies were low enough, I guess; we weren't.

Patterson talked about this a little at the luncheon yesterday - mainly about how proud of him he was in getting from point A to point B and said he should get news about some major recognition in the next day or two (turned out to be the All-American award). Pretty cool story.
