Phillip Thomas 1st team is legit. 8 picks
Johnthan Banks is overrated
Jordan Poyer is legit

Verrett definitely is a lot better than Banks. Weird

Still cool but not sure banks should even be 2nd team.

Congrats to Verrett! But he should have been first team! Can't believe with his numbers! Like CBS all conference. They had to add a 12th player to a 11 man team but he's on theirs now. No one looks at stats I guess.

Go Frogs!

How do you have such a strong opinion on Banks? Did you watch a ton of Miss St games and break down his film?

I couldn't even begin to have a strong view one way or the other. Looked pretty good in what little I saw of him though

And he won the Thorpe. He's not exactly from a glory program so I don't see media bias playing a role.

But I digress...congrats to the Predator

Great for him. I biasly think he should be 1st team but pretty good for a guy who didn't have a lot of national attention coming into the season. He has it now and should be in position for quite a few honors if he can put together another season like he did this year.

Wasn't targeted near as much, pass break up % isn't as good. Good doesn't make 1st team when only 3 are picked. Not a game changer like Verrett

Didn't say he sucks but to put him above him is weird. The other 2 in that 1st team list are juggernaut. In the 4 games I watched, he was good in 2, bad in 1, great in 1.

Guess he should be 2nd team at least but if you look at the numbers and the terrible offenses he faced it doesn't make sense. Sorry for saying overrated. Meant that his numbers don't correlate to 1st team.

So you're saying Banks isn't as good because QB's didn't throw his way? Presumably because the WR he was covering wasn't open?

Nah he just faced weaker offenses. SEC runs more than they pass, Big 12 is the exact opposite. Look at his numbers, if you want me to break it down I can.

He is very good, not denying that but the other 2 guys in there are insane. Verrett's numbers are insane. Shouldn't have said overrated but not sure how you can watch him and tell me he's done better than Verrett. More potential? Maybe....no idea. Better year? Not sure how one could support that theory. If anyone can explain it I will listen.

Trying to look at it logically

Banks is 65 in passes defended, Verrett is 3rd

Banks is 25th in interceptions, Verrett is 6th

7 pass breakups to 14

For the record I watched him only 4 times and for 2 full games, that's it. That Fresno State kid is awesome, love watching him play. Part of me feels MSU defense overall is terribly overrated. Once they faced good teams, they got slaughters 3 times in a row and 4 of 5.

Darn baylor!
Congrats to Jason! As much as I would like him to come back next year, his stock is high I think he declares for the draft. Unless he has unfinished business he wants to achieve at TCU (conference champs next year and his degree).

You really think he leaves? The way he was talking about the team being his family I think he would most likely stay. What does everyone else think?

He projects as a top 50 pick but there is thought that he could go as high as 15th if he waits and further develops in his senior year.

I don't think so, but with this kind of stuff you always have to look at what they have to gain from an extra year at college level. Banks is projected 1st rounder, but I imagine he goes in mid 2nd round.

I will really admire Verrett if he decides to stay. I think right now he is a lock for 2nd round with possibility of 1st round. For a CB, that is not a huge incentive to wait another year, comparing initial pay grade difference of 1st v 2nd rounders and liability of injury or under-performing in senior year (i.e. lower draft stock). With how our team looks for next year, high likelihood of increasing stock with similar performance on a better team, but there is still risk of injury.

Personally, I would go while I am a hot product, but I don't think he will. Too much potential to increase stock to 1st rounder for next year, plus CBs are not one of the positions most likely to face season ending injuries. Nothing indicates to me that he will tryout, but with a season like that it is tough to give a definitive answer.

As seen in all the awards voting, he is not a big name yet. One more year in college will earn him valuable "brand" awareness and increase his draft stock. He will stay.
