SDSU will remain, per CBS Sports.

Big "congrats"---to the Conferwnce that did so much for us---for retaining SDSU, BSU, and AFA. These are huge holds, and puts the conference at 12 football members. If a deal can be worked out to go to 16 with SMU, UH, UTEP, and BYU, the conference will be even stronger.

I agree. I think they need at least two teams from Texas and SMU and UH would give the MWC some great markets.http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/eye-on-college-football/21563498/report-big-east-and-san-diego-state-preparing-to-announce-separation

In a somewhat related note - Lunardi has 6 MWC teams in the big dance this year (2nd to only the Big East and B1G). Cheers to our old friends!

For all the flack he gets, Craig Thompson has done an amazing job. He fought off the WAC defections when Benson was looking to poach BYU, and essentially followed up by cratering that conference. Then, he went out and fought off the Big East, and followed up by cratering that conference.

I wish we had hired him to run the Big12. Thompson has twice the grit Bowlsby does.

I think the MWC should take SMU and Houston next. If he wants to go to 16, the next best choices would be UTSA, Tulsa, and maybe Tulane. Not UTEP. And BYU is too far into the independent thing to go back.

I agree and I would love to see Thompson running the Big XII.

Interesting to see what Cincinatti & UConn do. They want their basketball in with the catholics but the Big East says it isn't interested in football only programs. Horrible news for SMU who just "committed" to the Big East.

tech is 46-10 in football against current mwc teams, hell i would thank them as well, everyone needs to schedule a whipping boy and that conf was and still is full of them!

Look, it's one of Kliff Kingsbury's bro's posing at the Texas Tech trophy case.

hey there should be a bowl trophy in there from last year, along with scheduling mwc teams for easy wins, every team should get to schedule a big 10 team in a bowl for an easy bowl trophy!

I think the Big East will be just as strong since SMU has already told them no and supposedly Houston has as well. Plus, the rumor is that Tulsa is headed to the Big East too. Tulsa already beat the MWC tri-champion Fresno State team this past year.

It's so funny hearing Roddog now. Every team has hiccups (like their coach being hired by Cincy), and he has to try sooooo hard to find something negative to say about TCU.

Roddog, go cry on ESPN message boards with all your tech friends about how your favorite team is actually really good but the media just doesn't give tech a fair shake. You'll fit right in.

The MWC definitely weathered this storm well. They have two natural geographic divisions , one in the Mountain time zone and one in the Pacific, a strong basketball league and basically now little risk of getting raided. I also think they have a competitive advantage out west with only one contract/AQ conference to compete against for recruits.

The NCAA should pair each power conference with a mm conference and conduct promotions/demotions based on rolling performance. This would jig up competition and necessitate commitment on the part of the tat-suckers.

It would give a new and exciting layer of meaning to OOC games, and nobody could rest on laurels for long.

It would also promote the importance of the mm leagues and teams, beyond just fodder and meaningless bowls.

That would be a fun way to do it.

Haha. How many times did Tech come out for the 2nd half this year and the game was already lost. Three? Four?

Plus you lost to Baylor and manhandled by UT. OU, KSU and OSU did their best to impregnate you and you guys just laid there. Sixteen years of Big 12 money and exposure and you can't even put up a fight week in and week out. Pitiful.
