Congrats Jerry

Jerry, if you are reading this, I want to congratulate you for getting drafted in the 1st round to the Colts. My son started football last year and was given #98. I told him it was your number and he's been a fan of yours ever since. He asked me to record the draft so he could watch you get your name called last night, since he had to go to bed.

Anyway, thanks for 4 great years representing TCU.

Converting a high school running back into a NFL 1st round selection at OLB.

Patterson has once again demonstrated his considerable genius.

Congratulations, Jerry

Way to go Jerry...from one winning team to another!

Yes, he made some sacrifices for TCU and yes Hughes is a winner, but those "sacrifices" earned him a full-ride at TCU and a handsome NFL pay-off. I imagine Hughes is feeling mighty blessed right now.

So, how far back can you trace the mad-scientist ways? One of the Schobels was a QB, wasn't he? Was that a Patterson move, or Sully?

If you listen to the coach and general manager talk for the Colts, it sounds like Jerry will play some as a DE with his hand down. (unlike the projections of other teams prior to draft)

Loved the comments about JH this morning. Todd McShay called him the best deal of the first round at 31. Kiper, of course, went with Clausen. Others there (Jaws IIRC) called him on it.

Read some articles that said the Ravens attempted to move up to take Hughes in the first round and that the Saints were waiting to take Jerry with the 32nd pick.

Another article mentioned some kind of measuring formula to predict how many sacks DEs will h have called SackSEER. It basically said Jerry Hughes was the #1 DE in this class based on the formula. It also said the DE that's been #1 since 1999 is Aaron Schobel.
