There are two DI baseball programs in Colorado: Air Force and Northern Colorado. However, there are several DII baseball programs throughout Colorado as well. Baseball can be played in the mountains or at higher altitudes, just depends on whether the institution really wants to commit to it or not.

You think they may get a pro team there someday?

I know baseball is big to you guys, but it's still a minor sport with small attendances. Gymnastics outdraws baseball, and Utah averages around 13k per match in attendance.

The WNBA and women's college basketball gets more love from ESPN and other sports networks, no college baseball highlights are shown unless it's a short clip of of one single amazing play. Even the CWS is shown on off peak times.

College baseball has grown phenomenally in popularity/attendance in the past 15-20 years. Attendance is up, especially for schools with good programs. TCU is averaging 3084 per home game. Pretty sure that is more than attended our men's basketball games (which isn't saying much, but....). Any potential new members of the MWC need to field baseball teams, IMO. I'm guessing BSU doesn't have one--IanforHeisman?

This is the biggest factor right here.

Certainly is a factor, but the weather creates an economic problem for northern baseball as well. Since not many northern schools play the game because of the weather, those teams who wish to try playing have to travel great (fill in expensive road trips here) distances in the early part of the year to play. Just too expensive!! PLUS had another sport for women b/c of Title IX .. even more expense ................... and around and around we go again.

College baseball was on ESPN this past Saturday afternoon. Don't recall the last college gymnastics they've shown.

The CWS is shown during prime time in June. What do you you consider peak times?

Speaking of title ix imo it's interesting some of TCU's women's sports the Frogs include top national teams in equistrian and rifle. I guess it fits with TCU's heritage back to Cowtown and the wild west. I guess back in the day Annie Oakly would have made a good Frog!

I absolutely love that TCU is one of the best schools in the country for horses and guns.
