It really doesn't do anything to help. If he's a doc, he should know that.
Properly done mouth to mouth DOES benefit the victim. That is not in question. The AHA removed it from non medical personnel CPR because most untrained responders are unwilling to perform it and those that are do not do it well. Those who are unwilling to perform mouth to mouth were often choosing to do nothing at all as opposed to compressions only. So the AHA decided to remove it from the equation in hopes that untrained people would at least do chest compressions instead of nothing at all.
