College Football Playoff Ranking

It's not like just as soon as GP started losing we got rid of him. He was 38-32 overall/24-26 B12 over the last six years of his tenure. That's a pretty damn long rope if 10-win seasons are the standard. As for the ignominious way he was let go, if the guy refuses to make changes on his staff, and refuses to step down when he's asked to, what are you supposed to do? Dykes may indeed need to go soon, but this "accepting mediocrity" bit 09 has going is dumb. If he can show me some posts from 2020 or 2021 where he is demanding we get rid of GP, I'll take him at his word that he just won't "accept mediocrity".

As for the current B12, this isn't the old MWC. Not even close. Every program in this league is better than at least half of the old MWC.
You don't think GP earned a little grace after what he produced? Good lord.

But you're telling me that you look at our program under Sonny and you can see us getting to 11-1 or 12-0 in the near future?

Sonny doesn't need to be fired right now. He does need to accept advice from our AD and "important influencers" around the program that he needs help and needs to make some changes. That should have happened late in GP's tenure, but Gary was Gary and torpedoed his own job. Sonny might still be able to salvage his before it's too late.

GP did get a little grace. I don't really remember anyone really calling for him to get fired until close to the very end. On the other hand, the "Fire Sonny Dykes" thread started on here in early September 2023, nine months after we played in the freaking NCG.

If we land a few stud players, sure I can see of having some really good years under SD. We could also bottom out, who the hell knows, but we've got to start paying some good players to come here or I don't care if Nick Saban or the ghost of Bear Bryant is coaching them, 11-1 or 12-0 isn't in the cards.

And you probably don't believe this, but I honestly don't care if SD is fired. So many people are so worked up over him, and really have been since he got here, that maybe it's best to just bring someone else in just so we can start pissing and moaning about someone else. We aren't going to get 1st pick, or 2nd, or 3rd, or 4th, or 5th, or 6th, or 7th.......but let's just go get some totally unproven 35-year old assistant that looks the part, that always works out.

I was never demanding we get rid of GP - because he earned the rope.

I was also ok with it being time if we had a better option but will never be ok with Donati being a punk in how it happen and the fact that he didn't have a plan at all.

Dykes has not earned [ Finebaum ] and won't at this rate. He got 3 years off of a fluke - and its over. Again - you love some mediocre - which is obvious in every post.

And we aren't the same program as we were in the MWC - so comparing what we should expect today to 20 years and over $500 million in investment is pretty dumb. But if you want to do that:

  • 2008: 13-0 overall, 9-0 conference.
  • 2009: 12-1 overall, 7-1 conference.
  • 2010: 13-0 overall, 8-0 conference.
  • 2011: 11-2 overall, 7-2 conference.

Dykes could not win that many games in any conference even if all the other teams forfeited. And our coach makes more in one year than GP did in last 4 years we were in the MWC - where he won 49 games and we made two NY6 bowls at a time where basic perfection was required to get a NY6 bid from a mid major.

Dykes can't even compete for a B12 title at this point - we have 3 games left are hoping to just finish in the top 5 of the conference... he is a joke and so are your opinions.

they started as soon as we announced we hired him....because some people told you and others then that we would be right here soon enough.

He was mediocre his entire career except one year - and guess what, he has been exactly the same here...didn't take a rocket scientist to do the math

The clock started running on GP after 2017. To that point, he had 3 Top 10 seasons in the prior 4 years. That along with the prior 15 years gave him a leash. Then 2018 was bad, 2019 was bad, and even though 2020 he was probably spared the ax due to all the craziness. Then he was fired halfway through 2021.

So he got 3.5 years, really, before we pulled the plug on the greatest coach in the history of the program. Sonny is currently in the middle of his third disappointing season, and he doesn't have the decade of goodwill or results that GP had to even claim a buffer.

According to the system, FrogBall09 didn't join until 2 months after GP was fired, so that seems like an unfair ask. I wasn't here in 2020 or 2021, but I remember a lot of noise among my friends that it was time to move on from Gary. A quick search of the forum indicates that we weren't the only ones.

Literally the only posts 09 ever makes are to [ hundin] about Dykes. It’s so telling. How many posts can you find of him complimenting SD or the team during the 2022 run, I’d like to read some of those. Maybe I can be proven wrong.

‘12, ‘13 and ‘16 were bad too. And if we finish the year on a down note and they decide to fire Dykes, I’ll have no problem with it. Heck, I wouldn’t really have no problem if we finish ok and they fire him. But if we want to be really good we better start paying or it doesn’t matter who the coach is.

I've seen this new otter box thing that can play tunes at plus decibels. Maybe some sane one within t
he organization consider playing the Clash's "Should i stay or should I go"

# 1 on the list on I should stay is Malcolm Kelley. Maybe he becomes HC based on his track with the players. He played in the NFL. he is well well liked and has been a force multiplier recruiter.

# 2 On the should I go is AJ Ricker. Sorry, but you have skunked it up. The offensive lineman are performing at a JV level and you should be ashamed. SHAME SHAME SHAME.

#3 on the should I stay is Jamarkus McFarland. The DL coach has had a pretty good effect on YPC but not so much with total yards. THAT can be placed almost 100% on the lack of running game nonsuccess. The combination of Markis Deal, Ansel Din Mbuh and the occasional force by Connor Lindgren and the JC transfers has been good.

# 4 on the should I go is the RB coach. You guys can figure out # 5 through #20.
