Think Briles is in the ideal situation for him but I don't know what his feelings are about it.

Kind of my thoughts. His team either had no reason to be as bad as they were in the middle of the season, or they had no reason to win those last three games. Either way, his 7-5 season this year has extended and multiplied their infatuation with him. At Baylor, that might be enough to let him ride out many, many 6-6 type years moving forward. At Arky, if he shows up with no defense and gets Mizzou'd, he will be looking for a job in 3 years max.

I tell you what Baylor's stretch to end the season was awesome. Great coaching job even the Defense played a ton better give Baylor and Briles some credit. I just wonder if he will stay at Baylor though no long term ties and he has moved up the ladder a lot over his career.

This is Baylor we are talking about here. He can probably stay until he is 80 if he can keep them bowl eligible at 6-6 most years and occasionally sneak in an 8-4 or 9-3 year.

Rumored that Gundy interviewed with Tennessee at his home yesterday. Would love to see him out of the Big 12. That guy can call a game on the offensive side of the ball.

Bold! I think this is a telling period. If he is interested in leaving, Arky would have to be attractive. But if he stays, may well be for the long haul. He did a great job turning their season around.

If you call ambushing teams that were injured and coming off tough games awesome. Baylor D did look better toward the end of the season. Unfortunately, Briles smartest career move is prob to stay at Baylor. Either way I believe sooner or later Baylor comes crashing to the ground. It seems suspicious how Baylor Basketball and football turned around...... No evidence, just seems like something fishy is going on at Baylor. Friend of mine from K State says he and K State has noticed it as well.

Chris Petersen turns down Arkansas ala James Franklin of Vanderbilt and Gary Patterson, Art Briles is the hot name now.

Barners have interviewed Gus Malzahn with Kirby Smart, and Chad Morris also on the interview list. A final decision is supposed to be made this week.

Nope, just the normal mass exodus that UT has after each season. Mack promises these kids the world and after they sign the kids realize...... Hmm maybe UT isn't the picture Mack presented during recruiting.

Not a chance Applewhite takes Baylor or Rice job! 0%

Applewhite already coached at Rice once and was out the door so fast it wasn't even funny! He is prob going to be the next coach in waiting at UT and then eventually take over for Mack. Applewhite won't be able to turn around UT after Mack finishes running the program into the ground. He'll get a 2-3 season and then get replaced with Chis Simms. Ha ha.

I could not imagine for one second LHCGMFP putting up with SEC nonsense, at quite possibly the crookedest outfit in the SEC. We chewed the GP to UT thing pretty well, and determined that he wouldn't put up with the time required for alumni/booster glad-handing and Media stupidity that go with the job. He's pretty much written his own script here at TCU. To leave and go to some Big Program, he'd be dancing to somebody else's tune. I don't believe GP would move for that reason alone. The Brand New Stadium is merely some tasty gravy...

They have the #1 class by a milion. It's absolutely ridiculous. Kids were sold a bag of false goods. To their credit, USC is draft city. Check out their class, so many "Starsies" lol

Not sure why, but I have always felt that Briles was a job climber always looking for the next step up. I would not be surprised to see him go. Arkansas has offensive talent which would probably adapt well to him. I think he would be better served in the long run if he stayed at Baylor though.

Doesn't Tubby still talk highly of the SEC? I would not be surprised at all to see him go back.

Not sure about Gundy. He could move, but I think he would stay with all the improvements at OSU. That said, he also has to be on Pickens' good side otherwise it won't end well. (If they get along, he is set)

Could be right, but I suspect Briles has gained a situation at Baylor not too unlike what Patterson has at TCU, only on a lesser scale. Baylor has less prior football heritage for Briles to build on, a less attractive home city to draw recruits, and a lesser pool of donor resources to draw on. But it also has a very attractive campus, an impressive new stadium on the way, and a lower threshold of fan expectations to meet to keep the natives happy. Briles well-paid, and -- let's be honest -- Baylor hasn't fallen nearly as far as many of us (including me) expected they might after the departure of RGIII. That's a sign Briles may be actually building a program down in Waco.

He doesn't have the family connection to Waco that Patterson has to Fort Worth, and Waco doesn't have anywhere near the draw of urban charm and amenities that Fort Worth has, so those work against Baylor. For those reasons, Briles is probably more susceptible to big-program raiding than Patterson is. But at Baylor, he has most other things going his way, so I suspect he's going to be there for a while.

Agree that Baylor has a lot going for it and would be a great place for a coach to settle in. It is just the mentality that some coaches don't realize that until they fall to coaching at an FCS or D2 school. They are invincible till then.
