Coach Self's remarks about "this is the worst team KU ever put on the floor," etc, "not since Naismith has a team played worse," etc, are being circulated everywhere. I didn't get to see his press conference, and am wondering, did he ever say anything good about the Frogs, about our Coach, about TCU? Just wondering.

What happens is, in sports, when you give the other team the opportunity and the belief that they can beat you, they automatically play better. I'm much more concerned with what Coach Johnson said about our guys...
Certainly, it would be nice if Self was complimentary, but I think he was pretty disgusted with his own players.
Considering the Frogs hit only 5-12 free throws down the stretch and still found a way to win says more about KU than TCU.

Usually when there is a major upset, someone is shooting lights out, usually from the 3. Our season averages for FG%, 3 pt % and FT % are- .408, .308, .590. Against Kansas they were .391, .308, .579. We actually shot the ball poorer than our averages for the year.
Obviously we got a lot of the loose balls, we didn't succumb to their pressure and turn the ball over and held our own on the boards. And obviously our solid D was stellar. But Kansas was just flat awful. No way to sugar coat that one. If we have any offensive efficiency at all (especially in the first half), we win by 20 against that KU performance.

That tall guy they have is a good shooter, but I'm pretty sure he travels everytime he touches the ball. They even proved it on TV in the first half.

Well I can virtually guarantee KU won't play that poorly again for the rest of the season. How much of the credit goes to us? A decent amount...but did we really pressure them into missing 19 of 22 threes, or were they just horrible all night?
We actually shot better than expected. KU is the national leader in 2pt% defense...opponents only convert 38% of their shots inside the arc against them. TCU hit 43% last night. It seemed like a really lazy effort from Kansas...there is no way in hell we should be that close with them on the boards, especially when they miss that many shots on offense. Plus they were fouling almost every possession when TCU had the ball.
If I was Self I'd be extremely pissed too. It's entirely likely that last night's game cost them a 1-seed.

Withey? He's got a nice stroke, but he definitely gets happy feet. I've seen him switch pivot feet a lot this season but it rarely gets called.

Yeah Withey. Dude has game, but the footwork is awful and he honestly travels a lot.

bill self is a class act guy....who wouldn't say that about their team if they only scored 13 first have points????
although still a distant second to pressers by mike gundy, dennis green, jim mora....that was a classic...but not in a meltdown sense....

Bill Self is an in-your-face intense coach who's not afraid to speak his mind. Call him assy if you want, but the guy gets results and I'd venture to say that all of his kids respect and love to play for him.
