After Friday's Baylor game, FrogBall team leadership was questioned. Fair question. Chase Brunson answers the leadership question. Kid is tough as nails. Legs out a double in obvious pain. Somehow, even turned on the jets between 1st and 2nd. Played hurt all year. That's leadership. You could see it on the faces of his teammates when he returned to the dugout. They were concerned for their star, but you could see the respect as well. IMO, others lead by example as well. Sawyer Stros, Cramer, Bell; all hustle their tails off. Gamster and Arthur both don't play as much but contribute when they do. Good gosh, Zack James took a line drive to the head that could have killed him. Comes back immediately and throws up double digit scoreless innings.

Many players get hurt and get careful. Others get hurt and get even.

Folks think baseball is a slow non contact sport. Game is methodical, but in an instant it's fast and extremely physically demanding.
I was coaching soccer and baseball at the same time and attended a soccer coaching clinic led by a former pro. He was talking to the coaches and looked over at a baseball field, saying "look how boring that game is".

I wanted to say, if a ball is got to the shortstop he has to make a decision based on:

How many are out
Who is on what base
Whether the runners got good leads and are running hard
What inning and what the score is
How hard the ball is hit
Where he fields it
Several other possibilities

It may be a generally anaerobic sport but it's far from boring or easy to play.
