CFP Bracket…

Thanks for the answers.
yeah, while I can see the excitement of traveling to South Bend (done it) (and the town itself is kinda lacking vs the on campus experience), I too would wonder how the tickets are sorted out and be kinda bummed about the lack of a bowl week experience as a fan and player. Players have a lot of fun at those. I'm sure our guys will take that sky tram this month, etc at theirs.

I don't mind the expansion, but it seemed dumb to go to 12. All they really needed to do was go to 8. The 4 team playoff was really accurate, for the record, when comparing to how BCS rankings came out before. Always thought the committee was dumb. Just seed based on the BCS model.

But even with 8 teams, they could likely have set up bowls for those who don't advance.

Guess this will all make for some interesting t-shirts. "I went to Austin for a game. Dec. 21, 2024"
I would like to see the teams selected by a computer. It's been tried, and people didn't like it before, but I get sick of the committee bashing when the committee is being WAY less subjective and biased than those bashing them. In any event, I'd prefer a system that puts way more emphasis on strength of schedule than what voters do.

A 3 point win over a really bad team should penalize you more than a 3 point loss to a really good team. It's more impressive and is more indicative of the quality of a team. I know winning games should always be paramount but they need to do all they can to discourage crappy scheduling. A game against an FCS opponent should be a mark against a team no matter the outcome. Those games would go away overnight.

I think there is too much money involved for those to go away. But the FBS teams hold those cards, so maybe they can.

I think that is a total cop out. Nobody can convince me a uncompetitive that no fan looks forward to makes more money than a decent game. I guarantee you the TV networks don't care for them. If funding FCS programs is so important (which I don't believe btw), just put money into a collective every year and pay them, don't waste everyone's time on a meaningless, boring game.

They exist because coaches (and some AD's I suppose) like automatic W's and an extra home game, and that's it.

Sure seems like manufacturing a negative to be disappointed by missing out on a bowl game experience to have an opportunity to play in the CFP. I bet you can’t find a player or coach who would voice that concern.

Crack journalism:

The SMU-Alabama decision was considered one of the toughest 11th-hour decisions in CFP history. Eleven years ago, in the first CFP, the committee dropped TCU from third to sixth in the final rankings after it beat Iowa State by 52 points. Instead, Ohio State moved into the field after upsetting Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game. The Buckeyes then won the first championship of the CFP era.

Upsetting Wisconsin? LOL

That was a 59-0 "upset".

So if one or both of the Big 12 and ACC have 3 teams in the top 14, the lowest one is automatically out? Man, they are really fast-tracking how to make people not care about college football anymore.

It's quickly approaching the point for me that I'd like to see TCU join a lower-level league with Rice, Tulsa, Texas State, etc., and tell the "Big Boys," to go scheiss themselves. Then I could put all this NFL-Lite [ deposit from a bull that looks like Art Briles ] on permanent Ignore.

If that level includes all or most of our current Big 12 brethren, plus whatever's left of the ACC, I have to say I'd be fine with that. At least a more level playing field. I don't see how we can keep up with the tOSU's, UGAs and (gag) Bevo.

Not sure there would be 100 people in the stands if we drop to that level. Athletic suicide on all fronts.
The damage has basically already been done, a lot of people just don’t realize it and/or refuse to accept it.

There is no way we’ll be able to keep up with the blue bloods on the field under this structure of pay for play and more importantly unlimited transferring. Whether we should futilely try and keep up is a very legitimate question.
