USC suspends Stephens for next week's game vs. Washington, and he accepts it. I just don't see how this is a late or vicious hit. He launched low almost simultaneously as Moore slid. His shoulder caught Moore's helmet. So the message is to hit high? And if the runner slides you miss him? But if he doesn't slide, don't hit him in the head? Seems like this puts the defender in a be-cautious mode, causing hesitation. Am I wrong?

Chris Simms of CBS sports was catching lots of heat online with a similar take. I've looked at the hit several times and I think it could have gone either way.

Now taking another look 8 hours later, the launch point/slide point by both players supports the Defensive player. Stephens should not have been suspended but that is what you get with Californication Dreamin' The land of Fraud, compromise in the locker room and voter fraud. If Dante Moore was not concussed, then different story.

Winning in Power 4 football is not an easy task. GP having trouble at USC.

Fox Sports..............They were the same. USC spent heavily to bring in top defensive recruits like Jakheem Stewart and Luke Wafle. They invested in state-of-the-art facilities to increase rest, recovery, and strength and conditioning. The hire of Gary Patterson was supposed to bring toughness and schematic quality to their defense. And somehow, they look worse than they did in 2025.

Sonny, starting today is going to figure it out per Jamie Plunkett:

Sonny Dykes says that they’ve evaluated everything about the run game struggles and are working to fix those issues this week. Says they’re going back to checking to see if they’re tipping plays, working on first hand placement and getting to the next level with the OL. That has been a point of emphasis this week.

Yeah the highlights I saw of Rutgers running through USC arm tackles. Hoo boy.
