We're about to find out if no Big 12 Championship Game helps or hurts the Big 12 in the College Football Playoff.
 
For a while, it appeared the huge debate on the final weekend of the season would focus on the value of a conference championship. But Mississippi State's loss to Ole Miss means it's highly likely that only conference champions will comprise the first four-team playoff.
 
The Big 12 is the only major conference without a league championship game. On Saturday, the Big 12 will stage in Texas a defacto pair of "conference championship games" when TCU meets Iowa State and then Baylor plays Kansas State.
 
If the Horned Frogs win, they're co-Big 12 champions. The Baylor-Kansas State winner could either be the outright champion (if TCU loses) or join TCU as co-champions.
 
So much for "One True Champion," the Big 12's motto for its round-robin scheduling format. ...
