Bowl Projections per CFN

Sir FeistyFrog
Those are way too early....

January 10, 2011 Glendale, AZ
BCS Championship 8:00 pm ABC
BCS No. 1 vs. BCS No. 2
Way Too Early Projection: Ohio State vs. TCU
WHY? Here's the call (and remember, it's May ... don't get mad if and when we flip-flop before the season). The SEC champion will have two losses, but if it's undefeated or has one loss, it's in Glendale over an unbeaten TCU/Utah winner. The ACC, Pac 10, Big East, and Big 12 champions will also have two losses, Ohio State will lose once, to either Wisconsin or Iowa, and will have the best record among BCS teams. The other out-of-left-field call is Nebraska, who has the right schedule and gets Texas at home. Basically, if there are two BCS teams with one loss or, of course, are unbeaten, TCU is out.

LOL, they have Fresno winning the WAC.

Incorrect. Fresno to the former Emerald Bowl, Boise to the Humanitarian, both in the interest of proximity. Plus.....

WHY? Boise State will be wanted by several other bowls, but there aren't a lot of fits with so many automatic tie-ins. This is assuming an 11-1 Bronco team loses to Virginia Tech to start the season, or else Nevada could end up here. Toledo

Hey...I'll take the PR...gotta love the positive headlines TCU is consistantly receiving year over year as of late.

This is exactly the matchup I've had penciled in for a few months now for the BCS Championship.

However, I completely disagree with his premise. We were mere inches and seconds away from going to the BCS Championship last year over and undefeated BCS team (Cincy). It will NOT take everyone else having 2 losses. As a matter of fact, I believe the only 1 loss BCS conference champion that could get into the title game over an undefeated TCU/Boise (and maybe even Utah) in 2010 is the SEC champion. We will start out too high for any of the other BCS conference champions to jump us without being undefeated.

Kraft Fight World Hunger Bowl? I don't think I would want to play in that bowl if I were a player, sounds like more of an embarrasment.

I believe 2 big time programs with 1-loss would get in over TCU, except for a BE team, TCU will get in above them

I'm allin and I endorse this post.

A 1 loss SEC team, yeah, sure. But not a 1 loss team from any other conference.

I generally agree, but it depends on two things: 1) Conferences with championship games are more likely to have their 1-loss champ go to the NC game and 2) it depends on the quality of the loss. The conference championship game gives a team that might have had a slip-up during the regular season to redeem themselves against what is generally also a higher rated program, somehow justifying in the minds of the voters.

In the quality of loss department, lets take Oregon as an example. So far preseason, they've been the unanimous decision to with the PAC-10. If they go through their schedule blowing out everyone, and then lose to USC, they'd more than likely go before TCU on principle that they're in a BCS conference and lost to a traditionally good program. However, if they just skim by a couple of their games with a win, and then lose to WSU, it'd be hard to justify them since their performance on the field wouldn't match the #1 or #2 ranking. This is what happened to Iowa last year. They barely pulled out wins on teams they should have been tearing apart if their ranking were correct, lost to Northwestern, and completely dropped out of contention for a NC game, even if they had beat OSU the next week.

I think last year was an anomaly, you don't see many seasons with 5 undefeated teams at the end of it all. This year gives us the best opportunity we've had in a long while to make a run for it, but all we can do is win the games given to us and hope for some shenanigans to happen to all the teams in front of us, the first being Boise losing to VT.
