Bold prediction for BWW Bowl

You have to love some of the bowl predictions. Bowl games are some of the hardest to predict with having almost a month to prepare and with different motivations depending on whether teams feel like they got the invite they deserved and all - but how do you really justify something like this one.

Michigan State Running Back Goes for 4 TDs against TCU and Michigan State wins 34-23.

Did they even look at the way MS has played this year.

MSU has averaged scoring a whopping 20.25 ppg, 107th in the FBS.
They have scored more than 30 points only twice this year.
41 against Central Michigan which ranks 97th in scoring D at 33.33 points per game and
31 against Indiana which allowed 35.25 ppg and ranked 103 in that category.

In 9 of their 12 games this year, MSU has scored fewer points than their opponents averaged giving up for the year.
Against Boise scoring 17, (BSU giving up 14.92); Central Michigan as noted above and against Minnesota scoring 26 (Minn giving up 23.92). But they are going to get 34 against a TCU D which gave up only 23.08/game.

A TCU team which in their last 3 games, against teams that averaged 40.67, 36.08 and 40.25 per game -
gave up 23, 13, and 24 respectively.

I would be willing to bet that the total score of the game is more likely to be 34 points, or less, than that MSU scores 34 against the Frogs... Don't these guys know we are in the Big 12 now. Guess old habits die hard.

I read that prediction also and thought about posting it on here, but I didn't want anyone to know that I actually read an article on Bleacher Report.

My BOLD prediction:

MSU puts forth their best effort to bottle up the ground game, but the Frogs rush for 175 and have just enough success on the ground to open up the air attack. Boykin throws for 295 and 4 TDs. Le'Veon Bell has some moderate success, but not nearly enough to keep the Frogs defense honest, and Maxwell throws 3 INTs, including a pick-6 by Verrett, and gives up a forced fumble by way of getting the stuffing knocked out of him via a Fields-Maponga meeting in the backfield (Kenny Cain on the recovery).

Frogs romp 38-10.

My realistic prediction:

MSU defense gives the Frogs headaches on the ground, and holds them to just 100 yards in the ground game. Boykin finds some success in the air, throws for 3 TD's and 1 INT.

Frogs defense does a great job containing the pass game, as MSU throws for just 150, for 1 TD and 2 INTs. Le'Veon Bell has a good game, rushing for 175 and a TD.

Difference in the game is the turnover game, as the Frogs grab 2 INTs and another fumble recovery, and come away with a 24-17 victory.

TCU's defense bottles up Bell for the most part, but TE Dion Sims has a huge day as the safety valve, catching 2 TDs.
Maxwell has a mixed day, throwing two early INTs but has a clutch late TD on 4th down to Sims to come from behind to win.

TCU starts off the game by stopping Bell in the endzone for a safety. Boykin burns the Spartans for 250 yards through the air and another 100 on the ground with a rushing TD, but throws an inopportune pick to end the first half. TCU also scores on a long end around play after drawing the D to the wrong side of the field.

MSU 17 - 16

What's a TE? Isn't that the blocker who stands next to the tackle?

B.J. Catalon Will Score 4 Touchdowns on MSU

TCU may have been one of the most disappointing teams of 2012, but one player who certainly didn't disappoint is RB B.J. Catalon.
Catalon was the team's leading rusher this season, rushing for over 550 yards.
The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl against MSU will likely be the freshman back's final game in a Horned Frogs uniform in 2012, and he'll certainly be looking to make a statement.
If TCU feeds the ball to Catalon early and often, he has the chance to have one of the best games of his career on Dec. 29.

Not sure if serious, but yes. We use our TEs mostly for blocking but Dion Sims (6'5 285lbs) is a pass catching threat with good hands and decent speed for his size.

Inside joke for us TCU folks. For years we've been saying, "(insert name here) looks like a great athlete and could be a hell of a weapon at TE, so surely we'll start throwing to our TE more often this season," only to never see it happen.

Gotcha. I don't recall any TCU TE with a lot of press so I guess I can see that.
