Boise State staying in MWC

"Such an arrangement is unheard of for a conference member. No school in any FBS conference retains its home television rights. With neither conference agreeing to that arrangement, Boise State ultimately chose to remain in the Mountain West because of the MWC's geographic proximity and stability as well as the Big East's instability."

Thank God for small favors....

I think BSU staying put in the MWC is a good decision for them and hopefully SDSU will be allowed to come back as well to give that conference a reasonably good geographic fit. If the MWC wanted to go to 16 then they should pick up SMU, Houston, and maybe Rice and UTEP. That would give them markets in most of the major cities in Texas (and California) and probably strengthen their TV contract when it comes up for renewal. I hope the MWC survives.

I think they should stay at 12.
I agree that 12 is the best number for the MWC. The MWC may be a little hurt over SDSU leading the charge to get BSU to move to the Big East with them and it looks like they'll play a little hardball letting them come back. I like SDSU so I hope they are allowed back into the MWC because its the best fit for them. MWC may be more interested in a Texas school and I think SMU (let the hate begin) might be the best fit for bringing the Texas market back into play for the conference. On the other hand, Houston wouldn't be a bad fit from a large market. Ultimately, the MWC needs one more school to get to twelve and I hope they bring SDSU back into the fold.

Great decision for them. If they were more local to our geographic area then I would've been fine being there with em. The biggest thrill of b12 play for me is playing OU, UT, Baylor and Tech on a year in-year out basis.

Good for Boise. This is actually a big deal. No hope left for the Big East. SMU needs to pull out too. SDSU won't go now as well.

Boise made the right choice. Going big east made sense at the time. Staying big east would be idiotic in the present.

SMU and Houston will likely get to choose between the MWC and CUSA. I hope they go MWC personally. It worked out well for us they'd have the chance there to continue improving.

Divisions would get a little odd, though.

West Division:
-SDSU
-Fresno State
-San Jose State
-Hawaii
-UNLV
-Nevada

Mountain Division:
-Boise State
-Wyoming
-Utah State
-Colorado State
-Air Force
-New Mexico

If SMU and Houston go West, which team moves East? Honestly Boise makes the most sense. Would also allow them to recruit heavily in California.

I still think BYU needs to go back to the MWC. If they were to go back with all of the new additions, that would/could be a very good conference.

SDSU has been told to wait in line. All indications are that there's at least one school that the MW favors over them and possibly three. (BYU, Houston, SMU) Still think they end up there, but the Mountain West will make them sweat it out a little bit.

The real question is what happens to Cincinnati and USF. They seemingly have no place to go but CUSA.

And don't forget the continuance of belonging to an ALL SPORTS CONFERENCE. This mixed Football/Olympics leagues just are dysfunctional. Didn't work in CUSA or the BE. (The BE '15 on had Navy as football-only - good for Navy, bad for the BE footballers.)

If the TX teams (SMU, UH) go MWC then add UTEP and Tulsa - not Rice.

That would certainly be ironic and fitting. Neither school really deserved the bump up to BCS status when they joined the Big East and now it looks like what comes around, comes around.

There's some speculation that the MWC may choose to go to 16 by adding SDSU, SMU, Houston, UTEP, and Tulsa

Team to add is UTSA. Only been playing football a couple years and got more fans than SMU and Houston, huge city which is behind the program.
