Nowadays you'd have to give some kind of reason that doesn't offend PETA or pet owners or something, he just says "I do not want them in our housing". Well put.

Yes, and IIRC, most in the SWC believed that recruiting class could have given UT and Arkansas a fair fight for the championship over 2-3 years....

Don't think it's the secretary. It is likely his singature reproduced via auto pen or stamp, but more likely just copies run of the letter. We have multiple items at my dad's place that are signed by Coach Bowden. The "B"s give it away.

I met Bowden once at a Cotton Bowl party. Just a southern gentleman. I told him that I wish TCU had interviewed his son for the head coaching opening. He said "would you like to meet him". Then he called Terry Bowden over and introduced me to him.
Wish I had known Bobby Bowden's history with Marshall. Would have liked to have talked to him about that.
