I don't know what all the bitching and complaining is about. Like bmoney notes above, other fanbases do a helluva lot better job of this, and are far more enthusiastic to boot. I am rather tickled to break out my fine black linen guayabera for the occasion.

At least the Athletics Department grundoons who do the scheduling did not pick last weekend for the "blackout" like they did a year ago, when it was about 100 in the shade and we all roasted in the sun. Seems like the 2014 "blackout" game was in November, at night, when it was just fine to be breaking out the dark clothing...
They try but those examples are with big time programs. How can we black out when we cannot sell out the stadium? Keep the passion of the fan base and they will more likely be willing to fall in line.

Penn State does the best of any school with "xxx out" promotion....Except for visiting fans, there is never anything but white shirts in the seats....Penn State started the trends, IIRC, and everyone else, including TCU, has been eating their dust while trying to catch up....

Was I supposed to type something here?

Well, they're about to lose me and Mrs. Brewingfrog. I've had my ears blown out too many times already up there, and I do believe it's louder this year than last. All of the folks with kids around me have ear protection for their little ones, and I don't blame them. Sadly, my Sonic Defenders won't match my haberdashery this week...

We are the only fanbase in college football who has an all out crisis when the program/team asks its fans to wear a certain color.

For those complaining or refusing to wear black, you sound like a toddler refusing to eat vegetables.
you need somebody to tell you how to dress?

I'll wear whatever the scheiss I want to. It's called being a grown ass man.

I'm really surprised at the responses here. We've had blackouts for so long, properlywe've had black uniforms even longer. We wore a black uniform for arguably our biggest win ever! It's basically an alternate color for decades.

People throwing a fit about it sound really immature.

was it black, or was it that very dark purple (black currant)?
:)

If they (or a sponsor) want to hand out black T-shirts fine. I don't have a good one currently and don't feeling like looking for and buying one for this game, especially against a team that has black as a primary color. Dumb choice for this game.
“I don’t have a good one currently,” is code around here for I’m now too fat for the few black TCU t-shirts I have in my closet.
