Big Ten looking to diversify its bowl lineup

"What the Big Ten will likely look to do is create more games with the Pac-12 and the ACC in its next bowl agreement. Part of that is solved with the conference's new agreement with the Orange Bowl, but Jim Delany has already mentioned his interest in the Pinstripe Bowl, and that was before the Big Ten added Rutgers. It's possible that the Big Ten could sign on with the Pinstripe Bowl to play an ACC opponent in Yankee Stadium every season."...

Looks like Bowlsby continues to not talk to other conferences...if I'm Bowlsby I'm making relationships with the SEC and Big 10 FIRST, Pac-12 second....

Big 10 seems to be making the most productive and aggressive moves followed by the ACC and the SEC....Big 12 just sits and watches teams being picked up and bowl games disappearing (if Pinstripe goes to the Big 10).

They already have the best Bowl tie-ins of any conference, probably just tired of losing them. But any bowl game with a Big 10 tie in becomes a bigger bowl automatically, so they can prop up lower tier bowls like the Pinstripe Bowl

It would geographically make sense for the pinstripe to go to the big 10 and a southern bowl (florida or georgia) go to the big 12 vs either the ACC or SEC.

They already play every MAC team at home in the regular season so they're out...the MWC might be available...oh wait, they want winnable bowl games, never mind.

And of course Commish Bowelsy sitting on his rear. How is that round robin format doing now? All this talk about round robin strength doesn't mean anything if you can't win your bcs game.

So should Bowlsby add Clemson and Florida State, which would only perpetuate the parity issue...or should we add Tulane and New Mexico so we can make sure everybody else wins two more games each year?

What's it gonna be?

Clemson and FSU would be great. You add quality and you get quality and it shows up in the bowls. KSU was suppose to be great and how'd that work out? No way KSU would have won a Big XII championship game.

There's always a certain level of bowl reshuffling at the beginning of a new contract cycle. Lose the Pinstripe, pick up another game. If it happens.

Speaking of which....next year the Big 12 adds the Military Bowl in DC vs the ACC on a one-time deal. And a Big 12/Fiesta Bowl relationship is up in the air after next season.

Disagree on KState. They already beat OU, OSU and UT, so they deserved the title.

Just playing devil's advocate here...the Big 10 got curb stomped in the 2010 bowl season. They were utterly humiliated.

The conference is as strong as ever (even without the new additions scheduled for the future).

These things are cyclical.

In contrast, the MWC had the best bowl record several times the last decade. Where are they now?

All part of Delaney's plan to use Rutgers as a vehicle to try and make the B1G "New York's Conference"

Don't know if that will fly, but it's such a plum that you'd be irresponsible not to at least try and get some traction there.

That said, I hope Bowlsby stands his ground here and doesn't let one of our bowl games slip unless he already has something better lined up like another B1G or SEC game

How can you say no way KSU would have won a Big XII championship game?

They beat everyone in the conference but Baylor and that loss was a fluke.

I think he's saying that if KSU faced FSU or CU in the title game (would they be in separate divisions?) then KSU would not have won it. I dunno, interesting point. I'd just be happy to have CU and FSU in the league period.
