Big 12 in position to poach Pac 12 schools?

They have known for a while and keep hoping a miracle happens. It isn't.
Very possible. I believe the Presidents do know, or GK has been lying to them.
Personally I believe GK is stalling because he doesn’t have the cojones to look the Presidents in the eye and try to sell them on a $25m GOR for 5 to 7 years.
He is hoping some school will break and leave, so he can blame the breakup on schools leaving early instead of his personal failure.

Was I supposed to type something here?

GK has been running out the clock. He knows there is no "deal" just as much as the ADs at the various Programs know it. It's been a big Kabuki Dance since ESPN and FOX told them they would get a pittance compared to other Conferences. The only option was streaming, and they weren't going to go that route.

So, hoist your tankard to the PAC. They are going out with a whimper. But, being Environmentally Conscious, they will probably have a fight over who gets credit for turning off the lights...

“Athletic matter” time, very interesting
We'll see what, if anything, leaks after this. It could be a lot of different things here, and trying guess what Trustees are talking about in closed sessions has made fools of plenty people in similar situations in the past. However, given recent reports from reputable journalists, the fact that this is a special meeting with a single agenda item, and perhaps also that they're holding the meeting first thing on a Monday, it seems quite possible that there's something to this.

The UTAH fan base comments on articles and message boards are insufferable. The only thing I want in realignment is that UTAH gets left in the MW. They are the definition of a snob through this hole process. Not that long ago they were in the G5 and now they are too good for everything and can only be associated with the BIG10.
But watching them eat humble pie and take an absolute barrage of heckling from BYU-types if they do end up getting corralled into the Big 12 would be pretty fun, too. And better for TCU in the long run.

If you click through, the agenda item is legal advice for the athletics matter, to be considered in executive session, conducted remotely.
When this same group of execs met last month, the agenda item said
“Legal advice on a specific matter - Athletics update on Pac12”
This month, they removed the “Pac12”. Trying to be low profile, as if that’s possible.

I’m sure they’re discussing current status of negotiations and possible alternatives.
They absolutely can’t be taking a vote on leaving P10 & joining B12, as some people are speculating.
That vote must be a public meeting, not behind closed doors.

But this could be the discussion to outline the bullet points for the meeting that will present the option of taking a vote to decide whether or not an official vote will be taken.

Everyone is throwing GK under the bus. He has the double whammy of a low offer and teams chewing their arm off to escape. Which is causing the low offer.

If (when) the PAC folds the blame goes to the administrations at Washington and Oregon. They would go to the B1G for the same $22-$24million as long as there was the promise of more later.

All of them are saying they want to stay in the PAC, but they would all leave in a second for the B1G.

The B10 would certainly get any team(s) they want other than SEC.
The real problem for the PAC is ESPN & the NBA. The NBA is far more valuable to ESPN than any possible P10 deal, and ESPN will need approx. $4 BILLION per year to renew with the NBA. The NBA is seeking nearly $8b per year in total from all media providers
That leaves ESPN with only $90m to spend on the PAC. and no other viable broadcast networks have any more interest than that $90m figure.
ESPN has -0- interest in the PAC’s survival, because they can get most of those teams by default when the PAC folds.

Several of the these so called Twitter “insiders” are all claiming that the CU board agreed to give GK a 6/30 hard stop to build an acceptable deal or they are gone. Of course one of them posts something and they all recycle the same “inside source” skinny.
