Big 12 Expansion Now

You know what if San Diego State University gets approval to obtain Qualcomm Stadium to build SDSU West. That would make SDSU very attractive for a future expansion candidate. This would double the size of their campus, increase the size of the student body, increasing the labatories and everything that makes a school a big time university. And San Diego is an A+ visit destination.

Unfortunately we are not in the driver's seat after the ACC grant of rights. The GOR doesn't expire until 2027. My fear is that the B12 has an expiration date and we won't be able to get any ACC schools. It's been rumored for a while now that OU, Texas, & Oklahoma State will eventually leave the B12 for the B1G. Also according to rumors, the Pac12 isn't crazy about adding a school with a religious affiliation. So we need to keep winning and improving facilities so that we have an opportunity to join the ACC when the dust settles. It will be very bad get stuck in the B12 without Texas, OU, and Oklahoma State. If we are only able to pick up AAC schools the P5 designation is out the window.

Also need to keep cutting back our "religious affiliation..."?

It would make a good substitute for when Colorado comes back to the B12.

That, or form the all new Lord's Service Conference: TCU, SMU, BYU, Notre Dame, Duke, Boston College, Northwestern, Syracuse, Tulsa, Wake, Army, Navy, & Air Force.

Baylor is disqualified for obvious reasons.

tulsa? seriously, why don't you add rice so you can have 3 of the smallest almuni footprints in the county.

working backwards. you don't add teams to your conference to reduce your payouts and help them grow bigger.

you don't add teams to your conference because they are nice places to visit. this isn't a bowl game and you aren't talking about vacation destinations.

you add teams that would expand your broadcast markets, hopefully make geographic sense, and have some regional interests.

the big 10 is made up of a bunch of schools in large part in locations no one is circling as must visit places especially from october. large fan bases and a big enough regional connection to generate interest.

same with the sec though reverse the best time to visit and once again you have large fans bases with a regional connection.

i don't see arkansas leaving the sec and colorado coming back as well. multiple arkansas sports have received bumps from being in the sec and the money is solid.

Big 12 is at a stalemate. I can't see any current P5 joining, and no one currently not in the P5 is remotely worth it.

Also, if we were to go west, that further scheisss WVU.

agree completely that i don't see any p5 school joining a conference whose biggest member is openly welcome to the idea of jumping [ Finebaum ] thus setting off the conference re-alignment dominoes once again.

the biggest thing tcu can do in this matter is not only continue to win, but support the teams. you damn well better believe empty seats will be used against tcu if it becomes a matter of the frogs fighting for spots in the conference life boats so to speak

I think the two Arizona schools would take a look at joining a Big XII south division with the four Texas schools for three reasons. Better start times for away games, Texas is more politically aligned with Arizona than Oregon, California, and Washington and MONEY. If the Big XII can get the next round of TV partners to agree to pay to expected 2024 Big XII per school rate to Arizona and ASU, then why not jump? The Big XII is currently in 3rd place out of 5 for conference money per school and the Arizona schools' brass has shared they don't like how bad the Pac 12 is behind everyone else. The Big XII going back to a solid 12 full of all Power 5 schools is a great thing for TCU. No one in America will care when the Pac 12 goes back to being the Pac 10. They can then listen to the national talking heads talk about their conference being the weakest and psychologically disadvantaged.
