That’s a bunch of bull dreamed up by an Oregon State fan, fans of the ACC, & Jim Williams.
Oregon State is crazy. They claim their AD is lobbying the B12 hard for membership. That’s probably true, but so are 15 other schools.
The ACC is very fearful of UNC, UVa., FSU, & Clemson being poached. They’re dreaming of scenarios in which the ACC survives this poaching by SEC/Big10. Even the SEC/Big10 won’t make a move until we get closer to 2030, which is when the cost for ACC buyout begins to become financially viable.

None of these bullcrap scenarios will happen. The B12 is not about to make a move until the SEC/Big10 moves. The Big12s primary expansion targets are ACC leftovers: Louisville, NC State, Va. Tech, Pitt, Ga. Tech, and Miami as a long shot.
There is no way the B12 will take teams like Oregon St,, WSU, or any Group 6 teams until they have exhausted every opportunity of landing the ACC teams I just mentioned.

The ACC is a bunch of academic snobs. Do you really think they’d voluntarily trade Stanford, Cal, and SMU for West Virginia, Cincy, and UCF?
That’s a move I see that conference make only if desperately desperate. Geography be damned.
Makes a lot of sense in theory, but ACC generates TV revenue from in-market TV viewers for ACC Network. UCF would be redundant so long as Miami and FSU are in the fold (and could also be replaced by backfilling with USF if/when they leave). Cincy + WVU < DFW + Bay Area markets

I for one long for one of those private equity plans that had seven 10-team conferences with TV contracts collectively negotiated and revenue allocated based on viewership/results. It would have sort of reconstructed the old SWC with Texas, Texas A&M, OU, OSU, Arkansas, Tech, SMU, TCU, Baylor, and Houston all in one conference. I think a plan like that where the bodybag OOC games are scrapped and TV contracts are negotiated all in one package like the NFL does could result in even more revenue for the fattest cats, all while making the sport enjoyable for the rest of us, instead of making us watch USC play Rutgers at midnight.

I only care about how any of this affects the TCU Horned Frogs. TCU survived a near death experience when cast into a conference with San Jose, Hawaii, and Rice. TCU‘s goal is not to win the big salami contest with the U of Texas and LSU. TCU‘s goal is excellence and relevance. Whatever platform TCU ultimately lands in it will be with a path to big time games. I think the poor Oklahoma States, Kansas States and Iowa States are going through a crisis that TCU went through 30 years ago and for which is much better positioned than ever. It is hilarious that Texas Tech thinks they are now Ohio State. In a biblical and literal sense their house is built on the sand.

Why not? They've got Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, Pitt and Virginia Tech. Not exactly Harvard level schools.
They've also got North Carolina, Virginia, Duke, Wake, and Georgia Tech. And Stanford and Cal. And Clemson is no academic slouch, either. Those are closer to Harvard-level than West Virginia-, Cincy-, or UCF-level. All just my opinion.

Clemson, Florida State, Pitt and Virginia Tech students all have significantly higher average SAT scores than TCU students. Only Louisville is lesser. And they all are true universities, having much more sizable postgraduate programs (PHD’s) and research than TCU.

According to the UCF website, their average SAT is above Clemson, Pitt, and Virginia Tech. Cinci is not far behind us. Only WV is a disappointment.

Oregon State, WSU, Cal, and Stanford would be a financial burden to the Big 12. If WVU, Cincinnati, and UCF were to leave for the ACC, I would hope the Big12 not replace them. The Big 12 should not replace them unless it is absolutely necessary.

It’s highly doubtful anyone, including WVU, Cincy, & UCF, is moving to the ACC for a couple of reasons. (Possibly a G6 team could move)
- The ACC annual payouts are distributed unevenly. Roughly, the big brand schools, UNC, UVa., Clemson, FSU, & Miami, receive 60% of the media payouts and the other legacy schools split 40%. If those Big 12 schools left for the ACC, they would be on the bottom of the totem pole and would further dilute the 40%.
- In 2031 it becomes financially viable for those ACC big brand schools to move to the B10/SEC.
If they did move it would be problematic for the ACC to survive.

The wildcard to all this is the Ted Cruz legislation, the Protect College Sports Act.
This Act aims to halt further mega-conference expansion by capping realignment. It prohibits conferences exceeding $700 million in revenue from poaching schools from other leagues that clear the same financial threshold, effectively locking the current Power Four conferences in place.
It’s possible the SEC/BiG might want to make a move before this legislation goes into effect.

If there is a conference revenue cap, it might encourage defections from the SEC / BIG to form new smaller conferences of 8 or 9 members. The financial heavyweights in those leagues would be better off not sharing the revenue with the rest of the current members.

Not being snippy here, but where can you see those stats? It would be interesting see where a few other schools fall.
