Makes sense. All of their facilities are either near fields or near streams.

Makes sense. The Board of Directors had heard that streaming services were the revenue source of the future, so they played it smart by getting the expert in streaming. Plus he knows fields as well, so he can oversee lawn maintenance.

Makes sense. The board was fishing for an athletics leader and caught a keeper.

Makes sense. They needed someone who is adept at lying about how big things are at Baylor. So why not hire a fisherman?
I am literally ashamed at how much I laughed at this. Thanks Doc, I needed that.

You would think Baylor BMD‘s would be hesitant to run money through the NIL shredder this year, considering they lost almost every single decent player on the roster, many of which were bought with NIL money last year. Potentially a death spiral.

I would think some of these programs are just gonna decide they aren’t going to play the game and will be content with whatever that results come of that. Baylor might end up being one of those.

It takes a certain amount to really be super competitive. I don't know what the number is exactly, but call it $20M. If $10M is going to get you a 6-6, 7-5 caliber team at best, what's the point in spending $10M? I know if I was a booster I'd want to know there was enough being spent to possibly win something meaningful before I would commit to spending anything. It's throwing money away in any case, but spending $2M on a player but not spending enough to put enough good players around that kid to have a good team is REALLY throwing away money.

Are we getting to a place where donors say their $5 million contribution is contingent upon a minimum threshold of say $25-30 million in total being reached from other donors?

I certainly don't know from personal experience, but I have the idea that universities fairly commonly (as common as gifts this size are) get "match" offers; the "I'll give $5mm if you can come up with other gifts totaling $xx." Donors don't want to cover the whole thing, and don't want to be associated with a failed fund raising campaign, either.

"Deep Purple", or other TCU insiders, might have better information than I do.
