Some express concern about signing lower division players. I think there's lots of talented baseball players all over the country. Some have Baseball America pedigrees that prove right, others are busts. Other players fly under the radar and develop later. Point is...I support finding and signing these under the radar kids. Trust me, Saarloss is wired into the scouts that evaluate talent.

Yeah post covid, when the MLb draft was cut down and then d1 roster sizes were reduced, the amount of crazy talent at the d2 and juco level is elite. top end guys went where they could play games immediately in the fall and possibly transfer or get drafted after 1 year instead of hitting a d1 and fighting for platoon duty.

no reason to think these juco and d2 guys can’t come in and shine just because they weren’t at a d1 last year.

so far I love this portal haul. I think id like to see a big arm come in still. But I think we got better at the plate thus far.

I am remined that WVU's starter today and ace of the staff, Chansen Cole, played last year for Newberry College in Division II.

This year’s Kansas team was fueled by lower division players as well. It can work if you have the right system and staff.
Junior College. Who would not have taken Zac York last season? GCU all time HR leader, did ok against OOC opponents, not so much against SEC pitching, throw in a late season defensive dive and he finished on the bench.
