most of those publications don't do research anymore, don't have pieces by individuals who cover the area, and play the chalk to sell magazines

can't tell you the last time i even found a reliable depth chart or analysis in one of those things

Good as we will benefit from under estimating our potential. It is hard to put a rating on teams that are completely different from last year. I expect that we will need a season to put it all in place but we will be better than what we did a year ago. Win it all…no. Beat some teams we will not be expected to…. Yes. Go to a bowl… again yes. Set a new dynamic… definitely!

Athlon generally sucks* and is targeted toward the large t-shirt fanbases, but TBH we’ve been very mediocre the past four seasons. Picking us to be mediocre again isn’t that much of a stretch.

*Phil Steele IMHO has always been the best preview, although you have A Beautiful Mind to decipher his graphs at times.
