At least we're not Rutgers

It's not that hard to figure out. Throwing money at TCU football in an attempt to not become a "have not" is asking a heck of a lot from people, because there's a real good chance few will be satisfied where we end up anyway. It's gonna cost people a hell of a lot of money just to be ok.

I honestly don't really care what happens, I can easily move on to something else and while I still watch, my emotional attachment to it all is pretty much gone. I know I'm not, and I wouldn't ever, donate money to this so I don't blame anyone else who doesn't. If we suck I know it's because we don't have the donors and that's fine.

I guess if I were leadership I'd make a decision on whether we can really compete and if not, focus on other sports besides football. Hard to say I guess with the sport being in so much limbo with regards to what it's gonna look like 5-10 years from now but that's how I see it.
OK, but I'm far from the only broken record on here.

And as far as people wondering why we aren't very good, a lot of the thought seem to ignore the obvious thing staring us in the face. We just lost a QB who was going to be one of the better players at his position in the country because we couldn't afford him. The year before we had our best d-lineman taken from us for the same reason. Hello???
Wex, I’m just curious, how long have you been a Frog fan? Not flaming, just curious.

Myself, I’m 57, grew up 10 minutes from campus and the son of a Frog alum, as well as a great nephew to a grad from the Baugh days. Only sharing in case you ask. For the record, i’ve always enjoyed most of your posts. lol

I don't know that I would go that far ...

Heck, I wouldn't be happy if I was an Oregon fan, a Michigan fan, an Okla State fan, even a Tech fan (winning by 23 as a 44.5 favorite at home). Even if we had pulled out the win against UNC, I would think that we had big problems.

But we're not Rutgers for sure.
Our “fans” pretty much suck. Delusional is another good word.

You'd think we’ve never had [ Finebaum ]ty games or [ Finebaum ]ty seasons before SD got here.

The people that care are mostly transplants who moved there for jobs There are “team” bars all over NYC Again I have lived in the Northeast all my life and CFB , or college sports in general aren’t that big of a deal (UConn bb being an exception). NYC, Boston, Philly, DC, etc are strictly major league markets
While in Ireland, met 6 people from Boston and 2 people from Philly. All seemed not very interested in our game. They were either for or against UNC depending solely on their love/hate for Belichick.

Just as a follow-up. BC opened their season @ Cincy yesterday. Surprisingly the Boston Globe actually sent a writer to cover the game. The game story is 3 columns over about 1/3 of a page and appears on page 13 of a 14 page sports section.

Rutgers is a large state school in a big market that has been very blessed to be in the “ have” conferences of the Big East and Big 10. They also do not have much of a football history when compared to TCU or SMU for that matter. They would be more like Houston or University of North Texas but always in a league that was given a bunch of advantages even though they never really contributed that much to the league with on field success.

Losing at home last night to UMASS...

The mighty Big 10!

Just goes to show that there are the haves / have nots even in the P2....

Bringing this back to TCU, I think our leadership needs to wake up and figure out what we need to do to not be a complete 'have not' going forward in football. Think we have some of the other sports (especially female) figured out.... But football is a big question mark in my mind.

Not even sure what we can do if big $ people aren't stupid with their $... Don't blame them at all.

If it was up to you, what would you do?

Not really sure why you’re feeling so smug talking about Rutgers.
Bottom line is Rutgers is 0-1. TCU is 0-1.
I don’t feel any pride in that. Face reality dude!

I think there's a bit of a difference in our situations "dude"... And it's no smugness... Just deflecting.... And their Athletic department is a half a billion in debt. . Stop taking yourself so seriously.
