I know we have Patrick Morris from Guyer as a verbal commit. We are also looking at the the Georgetown QB.

Saw this little nugget on the UT 247 recruiting board from one of their writers which made me smile: "[background=rgb(247, 247, 247)]Keep an eye on #56 for Guyer. TCU OL commit Patrick Morris. Texas would have loved to have had him."[/background]

Happy for Guyer. My buddy's mom is principal there and I think his brother is on staff. My buddy is a coach at rival Denton Ryan.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- If you go primarily on his stats, Jake Hubenak (Georgetown, Texas/Georgetown) is one of the enigmas of Texas high school football.

At 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, Hubenak finished the 2012 season with 4,091 passing yards and 48 touchdowns. He led Georgetown to a 15-1 record and the Class 4A Division I championship game, helped three receivers earn 1,000-yard seasons and, ultimately, was named an all-state selection.

Yet, for whatever reason, Hubenak is still looking for his first offer. Interest from college programs has been limited. Only TCU has been a somewhat-consistent FBS contact.

“I just wanted to play out the season and play my best here [at state],” Hubenak said after Georgetown lost to Denton Guyer, 48-37, in Saturday’s title game at Cowboys Stadium. “That’s where I figured an opportunity would come.”

Truth is, Hubenak is trying to build his resume after a torn ACL in his right knee sidelined him for most of his junior year. Ending his high school career with a 316-yard, three-touchdown performance in the state final definitely made a statement.

Now, Hubenak, fully recovered from the injury, will focus on trying to land with a college program. He did admit that he has interest in TCU.

“They don’t have a quarterback right now,” he said of the Horned Frogs’ 2013 recruiting class. “They’re looking at a couple guys, so I’m just seeing how it works out. That’s somewhere I’ve been wanting to go since my sophomore year. I’m just seeing how things go.”

Jake Hubenak sounds interesting. Has the height (6'3), seems to have the arm, has the stats (4,000 yards, nearly 50 TDs), obviously has the wins (15-1, trip to the state championship game). What am I missing here? How does the guy not have any offers?

We've really struggled recruiting QBs lately, I say give him an offer.

Last night, just watching the 2nd half, I was thinking he's a Mark Sanchez starter kit. But he's got good size and a decent arm. The ints were more a result of desperation.

What am I missing here? How does the guy not have any offers?

I suppose it is related to missing most of his JR year due to the ACL injury, perhaps there is simply a lack of film out there. He seems pretty good to me.

As far as a college career goes I would take a Mark Sanchez 2.0. He went 12-1 and won the Rose Bowl before being drafted #5 overall (huge mistake on the Jets part). But still, give me that every year and we would be ecstatic.
