I am surprised Briles isn't being looked into by Arky. Many of their fans with "sources" say that they think Briles isn't good enough for them. They all seem to want someone with either a national title or SEC history of several years.
I would be more worried about OU than UT
Why? TCU would match anything Texas offered, and with Patterson it is not about money, anyway. He has reached the kind of height that he does not need a job like Texas. Who, with any pedigree, would want that job? The coaches know the culture of that place is why they will never attain national importance again. Until the culture changes, Texas won't win like they have been used to in the past. It is so obvious. Also, see above post. This post will end any future post concerning Patterson to UT.Auburn doesn't worry me. Texas does.
Please read my post and Limey's post. Stupid thing to worry about. Some of you people just don't get it.Much more worried about UT than OU. Much harder to recruit at OU than @ Texas.
Additionally Bob loves coaching with Mike. Long as that's in play he's not leaving
WHEN will TCU fans realize that GP already has one hell of a job and he's FULLY AWARE that the grass isn't greener anywhere else. Sure there are other upsides and problems with any other program out there. This is his home.
Again, you people read through posts too fast (sigh). I never said UT wasn't an attractive job, just a job CGP doesn't need. Please read posts slower. But also know it isn't as attrractive of a job to the coaches who are in the know about the culture down there. That is something that will be very difficuly to change, if it can be changed. Most good college jobs can pay top dollar, so coaches know not to risk coaching at UT. If they fire Brown they won't get what they want as a replacement. Good gosh people, CAN'T YOU SEE THIS? :wacko:I disagree that coaching at Texas is not an attractive job. It's top 5 in the NCAA at least.
I think TCU is very attractive too, but for GMFP specifically too. Hope he stays, at least he is being paid very well at TCU
CDC is massively underpaid. He makes under 500k, which is terrible in comparison to ADs.
2 days after the Rose Bowl I saw Coach P and told him he had my permission to go wherever he wanted because he had done more than i ever dreamed possible. He told me that he "it's amazing that people don't realize what a great job I've already got" and he went on to list a great number of things and goals he had. I noticed at UT that every commercial on the jumbo tv starred Mack and he had 10 Longhorn Clubs to visit etc etc. CGP is an Xs and Os guy. I really believe he has found what he is looking for. There is not a grass is greener bone in his body. He also said he wan't going to break Fort Worth's heart. I quot worrying about it after that day.
You could have shortened this post by writing: "2314 is spot-on correct."2 days after the Rose Bowl I saw Coach P and told him he had my permission to go wherever he wanted because he had done more than i ever dreamed possible. Auburn doesn't worry me. Texas does.
You people are missing the fact that CGP knows the culture down there and doesn't want any part of that, a no-win situation for a coach. The players at Texas do not want to work, they would rather party and live the life of being a "Longhorn football player." Coaches like GP know this, and they know it won't change - it is too far gone at this point. However, a coach with a huge ego may foolishly think he can change the culture, and he will get frustrated. People, because of this Texas will not be strong for many years to come. I don't see why hardly any of you can see this (or if you can, why you have't commented on it).Yeah, that would be a terrible fit. No way GMFP is interested in attending fundraisers every other week, doing LHN interviews before every game, handling boosters on a daily basis, and generally being the main event at the dog and pony show that is UT football.
He tried to do all that when Fran left, remember? It was a disaster. Patterson is a badass to the core. He'd much rather sweat and scream in practice than wine and dine alumni events.
I am worried that Obama will make GP the next Secretary of Defense...
