With the recent talk about how we maybe have too many WRs, not enough O-lineman etc just wondering what the other living room personnel experts feel is the right allocation per position with the offensive and defensive systems we currently run. I think you have to at least go three deep at every position at a minimum, I think most would agree on that. How you divvy up the rest is to each their own. One thing you notice when you do this, 85 scholarships is A LOT. Here's what I would call ideal...
QB - 4
RB - 5 (one of these would probably be a RB/Slot combo)
WR - 13
OL - 18
TE - 2 (I know I've said zero before but that's admittedly out of frustration with how we use them. I'd raise this to 4 if we really make a concerted effort to use them in the base offense)
Offense - 42
DL - 15
LB - 7 (probably at least one S/LB hybrid)
S - 10
CB - 8 (we seems to always be light on true CBs)
Defense - 40
Kicker
Punter
Long Snapper
Special Teams - 3
Total - 85
