After GP retires and TCU has to hire a new coach

I would not really want to follow a legend as HC. Need some caretaker to let the GP dust settle, then some hotshot coordinator can come in and make his own legend. Or not.

thats a fans perception, not a coaches perception

Absolutely, guys who worry about stadium size are the same ones who think it makes them look cool to jack their trucks up. It doesn't make you cool, it means you're compensating for certain shortcomings!!! We just need to make sure that our stadium is always full.

This means nothing. That's simply reality. TCU gameday atmosphere blows.

Why because we don't have 80,000 TShirt, sister screwing rednecks in the stands? I love our atmosphere and I feel like I can take my kid to a game. You can keep the massive stadiums, completely overrated. "Ooh it's big and shiny"

Big loud stadiums are not overrated. That is an ignorant statement. But you are entitled to your opinion, as ignorant as it may be. Every big stadium has "family friendly sections" and "not family friendly sections", or at least every one that I've been to I've found that to be true.

I hope you are joking. Ask most recruits which size stadium they would rather play in on a weekly basis.

Not sure if I would classify us as a stepping stone. One thing people tend to forget is that not many schools are as supportive as TCU is in terms of adminsitration support. There is a a big reason why Urban Meyer said this is a top 5 job- RECRUITING!!! We are in the best 200 square mile radius for recruiting in the country. Meyer understands how important that is to your success.

When GP retires in 2025 at age 65 with 4 NC rings, TCU will have its pick of coaches. No clue who it will be, but I can think of a Red-Headed Former Frog QB who will make a hell of a coach someday. He would have been our OC for 3 years and will be ready for the top job.

No, he won't retire in 2025 at age 65. He has plans to coach as long as Paterno did, retiring in 2040 with ten NC rings. Some of us will be gone by then, but wherever we are, we will celebrate with him.

Yah, I agree that most recruits would probably rather play in front of 80k to 100k. At the same time, i don't think that is huge factor in their decision.

Take Manning for instance though, out of the three schools, TCU was probably last when it came to gameday atmosphere. it is what it is. We still win and get the players we want. I know it bugs Patterson a lot when people leave at half time, but look at Tech, OU and KState, they came back for the second half (just need to make sure they come back for each game).

As for the T-Shirt fan, I am beginning to get annoyed with that (and I don't expect anyone to care). But is that not the intent of the entire program? To get the entire Metroplex excited about TCU football and having them want to be at The Carter? If so, and if that is what we want too, then 90% of them would be 't-shirt fans.'

As long as our top donors continue to support TCU financially, it will be an attractive job.

That's what has sustained us so far, since it has kept GP here. We don't need 80,000 fans each game with that kind of support.

Ole Miss has an outstanding "game day" atmosphere. But they don't have near the financial resources of TCU. There are several other programs like that in our rearview mirror.

If you think TCU wanted to have the Metroplex at the Carter, as you say, then why did they not add significantly to the capacity?

It is not even close to the 'intent of the entire program'.
