Every year, there's a surprise undrafted free agent to make the Kansas City Chiefs' 53-man roster.

Former TCU LB Cooper McDonald is poised to hold that title this year after perhaps the unlikeliest path to the roster. In the closing minutes of the preseason finale against the Bears, Chiefs broadcasters Ari Wolfe and Trent Green called on sideline reporter Kimmi Chex for an update on McDonald. The undrafted rookie had recorded a ten-yard sack on Bears backup QB Tyson Bagent about halfway through the third quarter.

He caught the eyes of the coach. He was signed to the (90-man) offseason roster. This is a name to pay attention to ahead of the 53-man roster cutdown on Tuesday. General Manager Brett Veach said, 'He's made incredible plays.' We saw some of these stops and sacks in this preseason game, a name that Chiefs Kingdom should get very familiar with."
