4th Quarter Fouls!

You cannot be objective and watch the 4th Quarter of last nights game and say the calls where legit. 66 the Left Tackle for Texas had 3 or 4 holds on their scoring drive. The block in the back on Carter was not a foul. If you called it a hold it would have made a little more sense. It was not a block in the back. The Head Linesman wasn't even looking at the block. The hold called by the Referee on Fry was not a hold. You can talk about calls earlier in the game is good or bad calls, but the way the game was being called changed in the 4th quarter. Hopefully it wasn't a move to make the game more competitive. The Crew working the game is one of the better CFO West crews, but it still wasn't a good game called. One more, the fair catch on a punt in the 4th quarter should have been a foul. You have to give him a yard to catch the ball and the Texas player was within a yard.

I brought this up during the game. We play 3 quarters and don't get called for anything and suddenly in the 4th, the whistles start raining down like Angelina Jolie's walking thru a Shriners convention. The saving grace was we won with defense. You get in a scoring duel, and you'd better be ready to beat them by at least 3 scores because the refs will figure out a way to take two away.

There were 4 or 5 penalties in the first half. I can recall 3 penalties in particular. 2 unsportsmanlike conducts, one on fields for a helmet to helmet and another on an offensive lineman along with a defensive offsides.

Fouls? Did TCU play Texas in basketball last night?

Perhaps I can educate you on the Rules of football
NCAA rullebook 2011-2012 FR-31
SECTION 10. Foul and Violation
Foul
ARTICLE 1. A foul is a rule infraction for which a penalty is prescribed. A
flagrant personal foul is a rule infraction so extreme or deliberate that it places
an opponent in danger of catastrophic injury.
Violation
ARTICLE 2. A violation is a rule infraction for which no penalty is prescribed.
Since it is not a foul, it does not offset a foul.

Wasn't being literal--the penalties that had been called to that point weren't game-changing in scope. Those in the 4th were in critical places and times that favored only one team.

Brandon Carter is known for his blocks in the back.
All it took was beating Texas in the 4th quarter
on a 2nd down play that would have allowed the frogs to run out the clock
to discover that tendency.

And on the Carter block in the back.....the Head Linesman didn't even "look" at the FOUL. If you watch the video he has it in his peripheral vision as he looks at the point of attack of the play. Since the call happened down field from him, I would think the Side Judge would have the call.

Remeber the Refs are paid by the conference. There is pressure to make sure you are retained by the conference. If its better for the conference for someone to win over another then perhaps in the back of your mind it might reflect in your calls. I'm not saying they wanted Texas to win. I'm confident they don't care. What I am saying is Texas is the better team (by record) and perhaps 51% of the time will get the call....especially at home. The calls did change in the 4 quarter.

All fans cry about injustices with their team. TCU fans are no different. This board is place to discuss all thing TCU athletics. If you don't care about the topic, you can always move to another topic.
