TCU QB Jaden Craig aims to become more vocal

JEREMY CLARK

TCU quarterback Jaden Craig admits he isn't the most vocal guy on the field. Since his arrival in January, Craig has chose to lead more by example instead of using his words, or being a "rah rah" type of leader.

Being loud isn't his style.

Craig, one of five captains for the Frogs, says the captain group had a player only meeting on Monday to discuss what they see as leaders and addressed it with the team. Craig admitted on Tuesday during his availability with media that becoming more vocal is something he is going to do.

Was I supposed to type something here?
Oh, joy. How long did it take him to decide what words to use? Did they time his speech with a calendar?

Once again, the coach-speak talking points all spring and summer spoke in terms of Craig’s natural leadership and strong presence in the locker room. Eerily similar to seamless transition at QB claims made by coaches, while people watching practices and scrimmages were reporting something less than that.

Yep. And I am ashamed to admit that I bought into the coordinated Happy Talk, right up until the first game. When the cover was ripped off, and we could see the actual product, all of those lies were laid bare.

I can take bad performance, because this is a tough game. What I cannot excuse is bald-faced lies, and Sonny lied to the Administration, and We The Fans for months to protect his skinny ass. I would think that the players can see this nonsense just like we can, and that would contribute to the bad team morale.

I wonder if some of these embellishments may have affected Craig. Maybe the build-up put undue pressure on the guy and may have contributed to some of these yips.

He’s the million dollar man making more than most of the coaches. You’re not at Harvard anymore son. Time to become a Big12 player or go home. A leader has to be able to put the team on his shoulders and make things happen.

Arch Manning looked like a flop this year until he took off running like he did in high school and got first downs when nothing else was working. That’s what Max, Boykin, Hill, AD did too. As the QB you should be the toughest player on offense to account for. You’ve had so many wide open running lanes and not taken them- instead preferring to throw to targets who had no chance of succeeding or handing off to Payne when it’s obvious the lane is stacked and the play wasn’t going to succeed. That should be something you recognize and audible out of but that hasn’t really been happening. So many wasted snaps. I don’t know it it’s you not recognizing it or the Offensive Coordinator but it really sucks to see no adjustments throughout the game. It’s really too bad we didn’t get another season with Ken Seals.

Time to step it up and show us something. BYU is going to blow your Azz off if you don’t figure this out.
