FORT WORTH – Meet the new Frogs, same as the old Frogs.
Well, not really.
Last year's Frogs didn't lose their season opener to Florida A&M. In fact, it has been 12 years since TCU lost a season opener. That 69-61 loss to SMU at the American Airlines Center in Dallas predates Jamie Dixon, as does the 82-79 buzzer-beater loss to Longwood that came days later, but Monday night sure felt a lot like those days.
TCU's 78-74 loss to New Orleans doesn't tell the full story if you just look at the scoreboard. The Frogs fell behind by 20, 37-17, in the first half as they couldn't convince a shot to fall and wouldn't defend or rebound with any sort of continuity.
The second half wasn't much better until the final minutes, as the Frogs watched the Privateers take a 68-47 lead with 7:24 remaining in the game.
