TCU baseball has landed its first transfer portal commitment of the 2025 offseason. Hawaii pitcher Ethan Thomas committed to the Horned Frogs on social media late on Tuesday afternoon, saying "Next stop, Frogball."

Thomas spent the past two seasons at Hawaii, redshirting in 2024 before making 18 appearances and recording three saves in 2025. He recorded 37 strikeouts across 25 innings of work while walking just six and allowing 10 earned runs. At 6-foot-5, 230 pounds, Thomas is an imposing figure on the mound. His 2025 campaign included two appearances against NCAA Tournament team Cal Poly. Across three innings of work, Thomas struck out six while allowing one earned run. 12 of his 18 appearances were scoreless outings.

37 strikeouts against 6 walks in 25 innings of relief. Just 2 HRs and .202 allowed. Six HBP doubles the free-base count, but he can throw heat for strikes.

UH's primary closer, Magdaleno, had similar numbers across 60 innings. Not sure why Thomas didn't see as much action, but maybe that's why he hit the portal.

Meanwhile, I think the Hawaii logo is one of the best in college sports. Clean, recognizable, evokes tradition.
