247 Sports: TCU freshman RJ Nembard steps up in Fisher’s absence

By Jeremy Clark

TCU won their Big 12 conference opener against Baylor last Saturday, winning a thriller at Schollmaier Arena; 85-81.

The Frogs, winners of nine consecutive games, got the win without one of their top players; guard Jaylen Fisher. Fisher sat out the game due to swelling in his knee which meant RJ Nembhard got the start for the Frogs; he responded with perhaps the best game of his young career.

The redshirt-freshman guard played 33 minutes in the win and scored a season-high 10 points (including two 3-pointers), 3 assists and most importantly, did not turn the ball over. TCU head coach Jamie Dixon described his guard’s efforts as near perfection.
