Didn’t want to compete with Schobel. Or upset TCU signed Schobel.

Let’s see where he ends up. That’ll be some indication of whether or not “the market” for college football prospects thinks his height is a handicap.

Did he have non-TCU offers?

i hope Henjy sticks around.

Doubt it as of yet but you never know. I would think that he already has an inkling or has discussed with other schools if he has made the decision to transfer, however.

I really want to know what happened here. Did Hejny really think he was going to unseat the starter? Did he really not think he was going to have to wait 2 years? Did he get scared by Schobel? Did the coaches piss him off? Just seems odd that the kid that was so set on being a Frog and living out his dream of being at TCU just up and bolts in his freshman season.

I get wanting to start and play, but there is value with learning to play behind someone. Too many want instant gratification. I also think many want the allure of being the #1 QB, The problem is there are a limited number of those spots. I remember a great story of a player that only wanted to play one position. The problem was there were others better than him on the team. Had he let the coaches use his talents elsewhere he would have had countless opportunities.

I wonder too but will guess he wants to play QB and increase his chances of doing so soon. Maybe he should have stuck with Duke, his first commitment.

Hejny could be looking at Chandler Morris. Morris has committed to Virginia and will be their most experienced QB. He used North Texas as a stepping stone so maybe Hejny is thinking like that and acting on it sooner rather than later.

Also, Hejny’s dad played junior college ball in California before Patterson recruited him to TCU.

An article here from November about his TCU roots and enthusiasm. I hope his younger brothers, 13 and 8, become players and stick as Horned Frogs.

Could he be looking for a school with better academics?
Or uglier girls?

This really sucks. I assumed the coaches would find ways to get him on the field as much as possible next year and that he would have to be patient. I had hoped the personal tie to TCU would help him want to do that, but I completely understand that he wants to play. Real depth at QB is basically impossible to achieve now. It's going to be interesting to see in future years how many teams go farther than anyone thought just because their QB stays healthy and everyone else's doesn't.
