TCU Cornerback Unit Showing Improvement According To Patterson

By JEREMY CLARK

TCU completed their second practice of the fall on Saturday with the practice open to the media. One of the biggest questions the Frogs face this camp and for the upcoming season is finding a cornerback opposite of returning starter Jeff Gladney. Gladney earned honorable-mention Big 12 honors in 2017.

The Frogs had the top defense in the Big 12 last season and led the conference in several defensive categories. Among those categories was pass defense.

The Frogs have to replace one of their top defensive players from last year’s roster; Ranthony Texada. Replacing the four-year starter who is now with the Washington Redskins is not an easy task but according to head coach Gary Patterson, there is some progress with the group.

Didn’t come away from that article with a lot of confidence in the corner spot opposite Gladney...would like to see a youngster emerge. We’ll need 4 corners this year to survive teams like WVU.

Speed and quickness to recover is needed to make up for a wide receiver getting behind the corner.

OU Marquise Brown killed TCU last season. Super fast. TCU needs to be able to cover him or they will have just as a hard time beating Oklahoma as last season.
