TCU AD: 'Too early' for NCAA to decide on Fall championships

With the NCAA reportedly set to vote this coming Tuesday on whether or not it will postpone or even cancel its 22 championships for Fall sports, at least one Power 5 athletic director believes that it's far too early to make such a decision on events that still roughly four months away. TCU athletic director Jeremiah Donati, in a recent interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, questioned the NCAA's line of thinking on having a vote in early August for fall championships.
“At this point, I believe it is too early to make that call on delays or cancellations,” Donati told the Star-Telegram this week. “We have a well thought out plan that has been developed by numerous medical professionals and health experts to proceed cautiously so that student-athletes get to play. If the championships are canceled, it sets a tough precedent to get yourself out of. Can you go forward with football and men’s and women’s basketball? Hard to say."
