With the approval of the House vs. NCAA settlement on June 6, a fundamental shift in college athletics is underway. Mike Buddie and TCU seem prepared to face it head-on, bringing their NIL operation in-house and being strategic about scholarship allotment.
There's more to be prepared for than just the contents of the settlement, though, as Buddie noted in a recent conversation with HornedFrogBlitz.
"What I like about this house settlement and all of the change that's going on is it has done two things," Buddie said. "One, it stirred up conversation about, 'hey, how should we best move forward?' The other thing that it's done is made us all realize that, against all of our assumptions, which is it takes 15 years for anything to get changed at the NCAA level, we've now learned that if forced, we can get things changed in weeks at the NCAA level."
