TCU 2023 spring camp: More confident, receiver Major Everhart is making plays

ByJEREMY CLARK

TCU has completed five practices of spring camp and a few players have started to emerge on both sides of the ball for the Frogs.

One player that has particularly stood out is redshirt freshman receiver Major Everhart. Out of Amarillo Tascosa, Everhart was one of the Frogs’ prized recruits for the 2022 recruiting class as he chose the Frogs over a host of offers including Texas Tech and Notre Dame, with both putting a strong push on the speedster in the hours leading up to signing day.

Also one of the top sprinters in the nation, Everhart had planned to play football and run track for the Frogs.

Is Major a candidate for kick/punt returner? How about Emani Bailey? Dude is explosive. Thoughts?
I have no doubt he could do it at a high level.
I hope he just focuses on being the most explosive receiver he can be. I believe he has made it to this season somewhat under the radar, and he could be a Major impact player right out of the gate. If Major & Chandler get their timing down, he could blow the top off at any time.
I heard they were looking at Bailey, Wren, and I think JoJo.

red-shirting last year was big for him because in the double slot offense he was in at tascosa he pretty much was either running wheel routes without a jam off the line or running the ball on an option play, toss, or counter

last year gave him time to start learning to be a receiver, run routes, read coverages, physically get stronger....his ceiling is pretty damn high and I would not be surprised to see him turn in a game or two next year where he turns 3-4 touches into 100+ total yards and a couple of scores

Major - definitely, Emani - I could see as the off-returner on kickoff, but not punt returner.

possibly the other bailey returning punts?

can't recall if he did so for ryan (then again ryan is 5a so does anything he did there even apply?) but he has that explosive quickness as well

My recollection was Bubba Thorton got Marquise Goodwin to come to Austin on a track scholarship but somehow the Tobacco Road Conman got him to play football. He won the Texas OU game his 1st year almost by himself. He was clearly a “track guy” but loved football so much he came back to Austin after winning the gold medal in the long jump at the World Championship and played football. Cost the kid the Olympic gold medal. Sad

Dont feel too bad for him. He's had a 10 year NFL career and made over $20M.

He could have had a 10 year, $20M NFL career and a gold medal. In August of 2011, he finishes in the Top 10 at the World Championships in Korea. As he is flying back to the US, he is in the airport in Japan and he sees UT getting hammered in football on TV. He changes his plan to focus on the long jump that fall and get ready for the Olympics. Mack Brown is already fighting for his job so the kid plays football in the Fall of 2011. When he gets to the Olympics, he cannot find the board, fouls, chop his steps, does not even make the finals where he would have gotten 3 more jumps to try to pull it out. If he was just able to jump what he did at the US trials, he wins gold. Gave up the gold medal to help Mack Brown and a losing UT football team.
